LS6 Swap 2nd Gen Build + New Tundra

Evaporator connections redone. Had to make them shorter because of value cover contact on the taller valve covers. Everything is officially in place now which means all that’s left are lines to be made, and charging the system!

 

Trans is here and dropped of at 454 motorsports. Next week it goes down!

Well we officially have AC!

I am waiting on two bulkhead fittings to get here for the bed, I ordered the wrong ones. Once those are here, I’ll take all the lines off, add the necessary orings, and get it all sealed up.

454 Motorsports is picking up the truck this week to get the new trans in and all the ancillary shit done that goes with it.

 

Truck is picked up and gone. Sounds like he’s getting started on it beginning of next week!

 

What oily liquid dribbled out as it was going on the trailer?

Is 454 going to wash it before returning?

 

It’s my coolant tubes. Had to remove the long straight between the bed bulkhead and the motor bulkhead to get the trans out. Some coolant sloshed out of it.

And I’d guess probably not

 

So my 6L80 in my Tahoe went kaputt. 127k miles & all of a sudden I have a bunch of neutrals. Guess it’s shot.

Did you say you got your replacement from Monster?

I called around locally a bit, only one place that rebuilds in house. They all say they wouldn’t replace the coolers (1 in rad & 1 external) and just flush them really well. Warranty 2yrs 24k miles. I may go that route, and spring for a billet torque converter. Then use HP tuners to get rid of lock up in gears 1-3 & increase lockup speed in 4-6.

mainly because I’m too busy this time of year to deal with swapping a transmission on my garage floor with no lift. But still thinking what to do right now.

 

Whatever you do, do not do business with monster.

Maximum Offroad Transmissions built mine. They’re out of CA. Highly recommend those guys.

my trans: it has the 2.48/ 1.48 gear set rollerized on bearings / billet input / billet clutch hub / billet main shaft /

I just told Chris what my goals were and he set it all up for me.

 

Well the trans is in the right area! 454 had to put a hole in the floor for the cooler fittings. 4L80E is considerably bigger. So freaking excited to get this truck back. Gonna send it off to get a center console when it’s back.

 

Beeeeeeefy crossmember.

 

The center is certainly beef! If they havent already installed it, see if they can add some gussets of any kind near the ends, so that this doesnt happen.

 

Last time I had the crossmember modified, we rewelded just about everything on it. It actually used to have cracks in it.

Spals are brushed DC fans. If the polarity is wrong; it just spins backwards. lol. If you fried it you did something wrong.
