Don't have to add anything to get dual zone climate on the nissan Pro-4X, whereas on the Toyota its is an $8550 option. And I'll say F Toyota here. What was a standard feature on all V6 tacomas became part of an almost 9k option package is bull.

Seems like an unnecessary and complicated game to play really. I get trying to match like to like, but its really difficult to do.

They give you two options. Bare bones or loaded. Then there’s the antiquated distribution model we all love.

Rear sliding window too. Pretty lame.
What’s the standalone price to add a digital mirror on the Tundra? Didn’t realize you could add just that option now.

I'm willing to die on the hill that what Toyota did to the base trd's is shameful.

I did the tail gate strap mod to my Tacoma so I can reposition the tailgate to the same height as the inner wheel wells. This is why the <48" between the wheel wells never bothered me. But the new auto tail gate closes when you push the button or just bump it. There is no way to partially close it so this mod won't work. Now the <48" is bothering me.

To be fair I have been on this thread since it started and I have seen more overly negative takes than positive ones, most from people who haven’t even test driven one yet. It always comes back to price, perceived reliability or nitpicking small things.

On price: I understand the frustration but people seem to be ignoring that the entire auto industry has seen prices rise, late model 3rd gens were significantly more expensive than when they were released. The arguments also always conveniently ignores the amount of features and upgrades buyers are getting on the new gen. Also Toyota’s have carried a premium
    for a long time now.

Reliability: Again I understand the apprehension, but I have been around long enough to see this trend play out every generation. It’s always conjecture and data points are never brought to the table. People on this site hated the 3.5, Conveniently those concerns have quieted down after over a million 3rd gens have been sold.

But there are also major positives that deserve to be talked about.

They fixed the driving position. It comes at the cost of decreases running clearance but it’s so much more comfortable. No longer sitting on the floor.

This is the best frame we’ve seen in the platform, more robust, fully boxed.

NVH has been greatly reduced, it will be noticeable to any long term taco owners.

Best powertrain I have driven in a Tacoma. Proper torque curve, better transmission and more efficient. Not to mention larger Differentials, stronger CV’s, etc.

Rear coil suspension is a big improvement, been a fan ever since ram introduced to the pick up world in the 1500.

The top trims are more competitive than they have ever been. Ability to easily run 33’s with the possibility of running 35’s on the TH and Pro.

On top of that the competition is better than it’s ever been in the segment. The ranger is good, the Colorado is good and the Nissan is adequate. It’s good to be critical, but the pessimistic takes on here get old.

If you don't like cloth and you want to upgrade both trucks, The Pro-X comes out to 47.5 vs 52.9 for a Sport with Premium (5,400 difference). That extra cash gets you ventilated seats, a power rear window, and a power rear tailgate. Toyota is more expensive but, I don't think the pricing is that far apart.

You get to choose the Big Boy screen
What about potential discounts? Maybe another 2-3K in savings with the Nissan.

Was watching a TRD OR vs ZR2 video that commented on tire size. ZR2 with 285/70 vs OR with 265/70 (32.7” vs 31.7”). But if you get an OR Max it has 265/70/18s which are 32.7”.
I know the 18s are for the bigger brakes, but why make two identical looking sets of wheels that are 17 and 18? Just run the 18s across the board.
Or why not include 32.7 17s on the non-hybrids. Same diff gears, same suspension, same fender flares.
Is because hard core off roaders want 17” wheels? Or 16”? Isn’t that what previous ORs had?

I wonder if something as simple as a shorter strap would work. It’s a high school level trigonometry calculation.
