Inaugural run of my new, inspired by @RustyGreen and the folks over here - https://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2832232 - filtration system to get a spot free rinse when washing cars. Much ado about nothing, I know but it brought my town water from 20 Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) ppm to 0. Sorry for the crappy pics (I’ll get better ones on request.
    IMG_7180.jpg IMG_7181.jpg IMG_7182.jpg IMG_7183.jpg
Everything was bought on sale over the winter and with Amazon GCs.
    • PVC fitting selection is horrible in these parts so I went with brass fittings and lotsa of teflon wrap. Lotsa in like 15 wraps for the white on the main housings and 7 or 8 with the thicker stuff.
    • I went with the 4.5 x 10 Pentek Big Blue housings due to height issues with longer ones.
    • The first housing has a general spun filter, the other two have refillable filters with the recommended Resintech MBD-30 Nuclear Grade Mixed Bed DI Resin.
    • The filters are mounted on a peice of leftover Azek supported by one 8’ cedar 2x4. I only had about 2-3” unused after all the cuts. The filter and frame can slide up off the cart but I’m hoping to service them mounted.
    • I figure I came in close to the cost of the cheaper off the shelf systems. But where’s the fun in that :D
The only leak was a pinhole size one on the peice of patch hose between the filters and power washer. It’s from an ancient hose so time to sacrifice another.

    Edit:
I forgot the good morning everyone :hattip:I hope you have a better than decent Thursday.

    Looks great!

I'm a little confused about the TDS meter though. I thought it measured this

Not the spectacular sunrise pics our fearless leader posts but the commute today was kinda neat at a chilly 40 degrees - alongside the Connecticut at a boat launch.

Good morning shop crew, have a great Thursday!

Town run and a little light gunsmithing are all that’s on the agenda today. May try to fit a nap into the busy schedule too.

Heck, I think 20 ppm is pretty good. The county water comes out of my tap at around 200 ppm.
