Is this something easily fixed in a parking lot, or should I get a tow?

Is it the studs that sheared?

It's easy to back them out when the nuts holding the fan clutch are torqued down really tight.

If you've got the studs intact, it's as easy as just undoing the nuts, putting the studs back in, and bolting on the fan clutch again.

    Super easy parking lot job.

Definitely put some loctite on those studs so they don't back out again (assuming they're intact).

Disregard, it pulled with the fan clutch

Yeah that's just the pulley it bolts onto

    Hard to see on phone

I really just hope I didn’t catastrophically overheat it. I had noticed a lack of power steering and better light for a few hours, but I thought that was just the rack and alternator going out. Surely it would’ve died on me if the belts were off that whole time.

Vehicle died before overheating otherwise your fan blades would be in pieces from having fallen off

Just sucks you never wanted to wrench on your own truck, you could resolve such issues yourself at home (or in a parking lot)

It actually never died, I started it up and opened the hood to investigate a noise, and I guess the belts must’ve fallen off when I opened the hood.

As a side note, its easy to ignore the gauge on the dash on trips when you get a bit of white line fever...sink a few bucks into a ScanGauge if you can and keep your temps at eye level.

Stephanie does use the air fryer for that, and it's good but I prefer to baste my steak

Plus I can't seem to get it rare out of the air fryer as consistently

My father called me this weekend and mentioned he can't climb up into his 08 DC PreRunner anymore. It's on Bilstein 6112/5160s and 33s, he wasn't interested in lowering it back. He's going to buy his coworker's 2018 TRD OR that's been meticulously maintained and garaged. Seems like he has upgraded to a newer used vehicle every 10 years, it's about that time.

He said he'd pay me to sell his old one. It's a shame since I just put a lot of work into it over Christmas. Just have no interest in a 2nd gen even if I did a 4WD conversion.

If you ever fine yourself with the time in O'Hare, I highly recommend the Ancho Mezcal from Tortas Fronteras. Really anything from Tortas Fronteras. Top-notch airport food and drink.

Had a fun day dealing with this.. Went to Discount Tire for a new set of tires and somehow one of the good lugs I put on the donut seized in the 12 hours since I put it on, as well as two others on another tire. All of which discount refused to touch. So I have to go back again tomorrow, after spending a couple hours this afternoon replacing the wheel studs on those wheels.

Seems really dumb to me that a tire shop won’t do a repair as easy as wheel studs, literally two bolts to pull the caliper and hit it with a hammer and it’s done. They’re the ones that probably fucked them in the first place too..
