Toyota apparently released something today that basically said that if you have a 3.4L TT, it’s only a matter of time before it blows.

There is only one Pro within 500 miles of me. It's in California, 461miles away, advertised at $65,744 and the only options are bed mat, mudguards, and tailgate inserts. It's Underground with red seats, which is what I want, but I'm not driving to CA to get it.

I wonder why the hybrids are not affected. They use the same engine.

Based on the owner spreadsheet which has 24s and hybrids I’m willing to bet it eventually it will be.

Personally, I also wouldn't be taking a 40k to whatever dollar anything off-road that I was relying to get me to work on Monday...let alone a payment on.[/QUOTE]

I get that. But what is purpose buying 4WD, if not going off road? Only “salt truck up,” only pretty. Be “highway princess.” I not talking go mad rock crawling. Instead go “easy, easy,” offroad someplace.:D

I don’t understand why the machining debris problem still hasn’t been corrected at the factory. They’re *still* pumping out clogged-up engine blocks.

With all of the other potential issues an all new engine, or turbo engine could face. How does something that happens to every engine manufactured for for decades get over looked? Toyota has probably asked the same question.

it doesn't look good for these Tundras. its going to be a mess per the Tech below. Hope that the new 2.4T doesn't go through the same thing too

And there’s documented issues with the NX motor at role out (taco based on). A wise betting person would be foolish to think we won’t see any issues.

I didn't know that...good to know. Which is why I would never buy first year of new generation.

ARB Bumper, SOS sliders, SOS rear bumper, SOS skid plate. OME Lift. Some other stuff.
Because it's probably not due to "Machining debris" but a design flaw, this is just damage control. Imagine what would happen to Toyota's sales and stock price if they cameout with a stament saying "Recalled due to a design flaw in our engines".

LX600 (aka LC 300 series) is the Toyota corporate QDR standard but this year alone it has recalls on the tranny and now potential motor failures. Old Toyota through Gen2 Taco rarely whiffed, so 2016 was an eye opener, and now in 2024 these issues are less shocking, if no less disappointing.

New Toyota seems a little more like Hyundai: they will get things wrong initially, then they’ll fix it. Good play on Gen4 is to wait for them to successfully crank out a few hundred thousand down in Guanajuato before buying one.
