Couple things I've done so far and things that I want to do are...

    Done:
    6k HID hi/lo kit
    Snugtop camper

    Plans:
3 or 4" lift (undsided how yet) Really want FOX,King or ICON shocks
airlift bags for the rear to help with drooping while towing my car
    Glassworks Front and rear fenders
34 or 35" tires on the factory wheels
Possibly a medium travel kit (but in the future)
Color matched front grill, mirrors, door handles and rear bumper
    Oh and tinted windows

Now of course I'm still a noob so please take it easy on me if i've made some noob plans but this is what i'd like to do if possible. overall goal is to get a little more performance out of it without making it look "TO extreme". Make people look at it and ask "if it came like that stock" If that makes sense LOL..

Any and All input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

    Shane

EDIT: UPDATE of where I ended up.

First mod was a 6k HID kit
    then... SNUGTOP Camper shell

That was it for quite a while as I gathered parts
First item on the list was Dr coilovers & Camburg UCA's
awhile later I picked up some DEAVER J66 leafs and pro comp rear shocks
after doing some research i figured I might need the sway bar relocators so I picked those up on EBAY for 20bucks
trying to decide what wheel/tire combo to go with, I realized that I wanted to keep the factory TX wheels and I picked up decent but used set of 295/75/16 BFG AT's.

December came around and so did Christmas
I got and installed my weathertech window visors and got 5% tint all around

as of yesterday January 13th 2012 I had installed all of my gathered parts and this is how he sits now!!! Hope you like!!!

Oh! Also added a 13" stubby factory looking antenna

This was when I picked up the shell from Lake Havasu

Of course I couldn't keep it white... I stopped by Maaco to get a quote and they told me something like 250 or something. I told them WTF you guys paint entire cars for that price LOL so I decided to get some primer and color match paint then some clear.

Not to bad for about 50bucks

My first flat on a truck ever... I'm sure that's obvious by the placement of the jack and don't mind the pups in the bed in the next pic LOL

WeatherTech window visors were very easy to install. They are very thin and I love em'!

You can't even see them from the front because they're so thin...

Well this is where I ended up just under a year after I bought the truck. I think it's pretty cool/funny reading one of my first posts on the site and then seeing where i'm at. Anyway... Comments are welcome good or bad... Thanks TW for all the info I gathered over the year so far!

x2 on the research.. I jumped into getting my lift, and wish I had looked around here more. I would have done mine different the first time around, would have saved me a lot of cash.

Add a regear to that list. You're going to have a difficult time towing with the 35's and stock gearing. ;)

edit: 35" tires would also be unlikely to clear the UCA with stock wheels.

This website has a habit of coaxing people into spending tons of money to transform their trucks into something amazing. Definitely do all the research before buying stuff

it can be done tho with the glass fenders im sure[IMG]
if you want 3" and want some nice coilovers you can go with the king OEM replacement shocks with the resi's
    http://www.4wheelparts.com/Lift-Kit...el=TACOMA+PRE+RUNNER&WHEEL+LUG_VQ=6+Lug+Wheel
if you want 4.5" of lift go with a spindle lift, camburg and total chaos make very good products, your probably also gonna wanna replace your upper control arms after doing a 3" lift, ive heard good things about light racing, if you wanna match then you can also go with camburg or total chaos, and for alot of $$$ icon makes them as well.
the glass fenders look nice as well
if you planning to do a midtravel setup i would go with a total chaos spindle lift with their ucas and the king shocks, just because thats whats in store for my trucks future:D let us know what you do and definitely post pics!
edit: also plan on upgrading rims and gears because i dont think stock rims will fit 35s and after 35s gearing is pretty much necessary! 4.56s should do the job!

Id say stick with 33s. Out would make life alot easier. Alot less trimming and really dont need to regear. The "factory" look goes away with fiber glass fenders. Also the all pro long travel does not require fiber glass fenders and provides 3" of lift

Thanks for all of the replies! I'm definately doing a lot of research before spending the money. i've thought about lift spindles as well.. But if I do a spindle lift and upgrade the shocks/coils in the front with fox, icon or king coilovers... Won't that give me more lift?

As for the 35's not clearing the UCA, would spacers help with that? Also with the 3-4" lift + the fenders... Would I still have trimming to do? I spoke with Glassworks and they said I can fit 33's with the truck completely stock.. So 34's to maybe 35's should fit... right?

And for re-gearing.. The factory gears are 3.73's correct? If I change the gears, will that correct my speedo or is there a way to flash the ECU to correct it for the larger tires?

    Thanks again everyone!

    Shane

These are the fenders i'm looking at.. But i'll be running the factory front bumper.

Regearing will only get your power back.

Regearing will not fix the speedo and there is no ECU reflash to correct for tire size.

You can buy a Scangauge II (or similar device) to hook up to the diagnostics port. After innputing the proper information into the device, it will calculate & display proper MPH and mileage. But....its only displayed on the device itself and not part of the truck ECU.

IIRC that truck in the photo is Long Traveled....trucks look bad IMO that run those fenders and don't have long travel...and those are Glassworks fenders :)

    Thanks! I'll look into one

I saw that the truck was long traveled and they had to cut into the bed for it.. You say that you think trucks look bad that run the fenders but don't have long travel.. It'll look different? I'm not sure if I want to do a long travel kit.. Well at least not yet.. Maybe medium? How strong are the kits out there? Someone told me (and I don't know how much I believe them) But they said that when you go with one of those kits, that they'll break and what not. That just didn't make sense to me.

well its just that your fenders will stick out and your wheels wont. i have fiberglass on my 97 right now with no LT (but getting soon) i dont think it looks bad though. i would suggest getting new wheels with a off set so you dont need to use spacers.

and 33s will not fit on a stock truck... idk what glass works is talking about. i put 31s on my truck and i rub with no lift

expect lots of trimming to fit 35"s. Body mount chop and lots of plastic. You will definitely hit the UCAs with stock wheels. You will need aftermarket UCAs for alignment. Just keep reading on this website. There are people running 35"s on 3" of lift and plenty of info on what is required to do it. for more than 3" of lift you can do a spindle lift if you have a prerunner or you will need a drop bracket lift if you are 4x4. Even 6" lifts require some trimming to fit 35"s.
