I think it includes a new fan, but not the clutch. I’m not sure if they should charge me full labor tho, since the fan and clutch are already off along with the belts.

Let's be honest though and take a step back

You had every right to have been concerned about whether or not the damage was catastrophic

You did post and we responded to tell you it isn't/wasn't

You've refused to work on your rig at all for a year or two (that I remember) so really you are at the mercy of paying shop prices

It helps to be informed about the cost of replacement parts, and being informed by many of us on how to repair/replace something, but you can't apply much of that when someone else has your vehicle in their hands

You can't tell them "the guys on TW would have this fixed here in the parking lot" or "I can just order the parts and save 80% of what you're charging" etc

So, yeah it sucks but we keep egging you on to buy a few tools and just DIY it

That or lease a new vehicle

Install work is labor, you don't really have much of a say as to "what's fair" or not unfortunately since it's at their shop

You can ask for help with parts and/or labor costs though

Just don't ever tell a mechanic how a job should be done

I guess there’s a little more involved than I thought - tightening the belts, unplugging sensors, etc. It can’t take more than an hour, and they said it’s 2.5 in their system. I understand they have to make money tho. I might just have to eat it since it’s already there.

Man you can't just keep paying these shop repair bills..
I was team keep the Taco, but not if you're going to keep dropping hundreds and thousands on these somewhat minor repairs.
You'd have an extra like 5k in your pocket today if you'd just been doing these yourself.

Tightening belts is annoying and a bit time consuming, but its simple as hell. You're paying like $100 for every bolt turned

I would do this one myself, but I already had it towed there since I wanted to avoid overheating it. I guess I could tell them to leave it outside and I could go install the bracket after hours though. I’d still have to pay the diagnostic
fee tho. Kwikvette is right, I should’ve just paid the 100 bucks or so to have it towed back to my place yesterday.

In an attempt to save you a few bucks, do they at least waive their fee for conducting said repairs at the shop?

Pay another $100 to get it towed home, spend $200 on parts and come out way ahead

I always have some in the fridge!

    Maybe a local favorite?

I remember I liked a few things at that place we ate at...where you pour your own

Shit what flavors did they have anyway

They have everything. They change out the taps every week. They host different breweries and have a lot of events. Maybe I'll grab a growler from Alibi in Incline. That's my go-to.
