I have and '06 Tacoma that just had the transmission fluid and filter replaced a couple weeks ago. It's leaking now and shaking at low RPMs. Mostly at lower speeds too. If I manually shift it from 2nd to 4th while going through town it doesn't shudder. My buddy thinks the fluid that was put in it is too thin for 200k miles of wear and tear. What do y'all think and what would you recommend to fix this? And should I hold that shop responsible for replacing the fluid again?

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Take it back. At least try and check the fluid level.

A reputable shop would have never touched your transmission in the 1st place. An 18 year old transmission with 200,000 miles on it and 35" tires is best left alone. Just save your money and ride it till it dies.

It will die sooner rather than later regardless, but keeping the old fluid in there buys you some time. It's very common to see a compromised transmission die shortly after replacing the fluid. That's why a reputable shop won't touch them. They know there is a good chance the owner will be back in a month or less with a dead transmission and blaming them.

FWIW I simply never change transmission fluid in anything. Not once in 50 years of driving. There is nearly 700,000 combined miles sitting in my driveway with the factory fluid in them including 247,000 on my Tacoma and over 230,000 on a Honda. Never had an issue.

Well it's a little late now it was already shifting aggressively and I asked them not to flush it, just drain and fill. It was fine until it started leaking. To Steve; I contacted a buddy that works at that shop and I'm waiting to see what he wants to do about it. I only posted on here to see if someone found a great additive for an old transmission. Something to maybe thicken the fluid but not fuck up the transmission itself.

I already bought a stop leak additive but I want to make sure there isn't a better option before I put it in. It only leaks when it's warmed up so I guess it's sitting pretty for now.

Do not put stop leak in a transmission!!! There are a couple anti shudder additives that are ok to use search here for the name.

I second this, that leak looks like either the pan wasn't sealed properly or one of the plugs is leaking.

There's no such thing as the transmission fluid being too thin if it's the right fluid for the vehicle, they either put the correct fluid in it or they didn't.
If they didn't put the correct fluid in it that's on them to make it right.

Take it back to the shop and have them fix the leak and check the fluid level. Looks like they didn't tighten the pan bolts correctly? They shouldn't have touched the drain plug if they dropped the pan.

Installed a Pop n Lock,,That's it !..Bone stock
I am weary of any tranny additive. HOWEVER, I put some lucas anti shudder in an old Buick (2006) it stopped the hard shifts...Go figure ! It was kind of a last resort and it appears to be working...
