Toyota Recalls Certain Model Year 2022-2023 Toyota Tundra and Lexus LX Vehicles

PLANO, Texas (May 30, 2024)—Toyota is conducting a safety recall involving certain model year 2022–2023 Toyota Tundra and Lexus LX (conventional gas model only) vehicles in North America. Approximately, 102,000 Toyota and Lexus branded vehicles are involved in this recall in the U.S.

There is a possibility that certain machining debris may not have been cleared from the engine when it was produced. In the involved vehicles, this can lead to potential engine knocking, engine rough running, engine no start and/or a loss of motive power. A loss of motive power while driving at higher speeds can increase the risk of a crash.

Toyota is currently developing the remedy for this issue.

Owners of involved vehicles will be notified by late July 2024.

The magic eight ball says...cannot predict now. That's about as accurate as anything else you'll find on the internet.

The engine is the least of my concern, it's the bullshit electronics plastered everywhere. A dude in our FB group recently had his blind spot monitoring throw a CEL.

That's why I've got a 2010. I'll eventually have to capitulate and buy a new vehicle, but I have no interest in doing so any time soon.

So it happened within the warranty period? 3rd gen BSM sensors like to fail just after the 3-yr warranty - they're in an area subject to road spray kicked up by the rear tires.

I backed into a light pole with my 2nd gen. Stupid me, but shit happens. Didn't happen in 115,000 miles with my 3rd gen. I've got a 4th gen coming and I'm glad it's got the rear sensors.

No, there’s a possibility because Toyota doesn’t know that all 102,000 engines are affected.

They know it’s a possibility. The recall is to confirm what engines are affected and require repair.
