It’s funny, I used to hate covers, but this new Tacoma looks terrible almost like a prototype.

I’d be reluctant to put a cover on simply due to heat and cost.

I'm wondering if that's why Toyota left a cosmetic cover off.

I tend to agree. A standard oem plastic cover would have enhanced the look of the engine compartment. Although I like the Victory4x4 product. Nice job!

When you show off your truck to your buddy, you can pop the hood and show him the cool cosmetic engine cover.

I didn't do that with my first three Tacos.

When I lift the lid of my toilet, I want to get to business. Not have another cover in the way. If you need another cover to hide things, maybe you need to flush. Finally, Toyota came to its senses.

Same reason Toyota doesn't have a cosmetic cover on the 4-cyl Tacomas in the last 30 years. Toyota calls it a "V-bank cover". No V-shaped engine, no cover.

If it was a big ol' honkin' V-8 all dressed out I can understand it, some 4 popper with more hoses and lines then the space shuttle launch tower, ehhhhh, not so much.

After I realized Raptor lights were a thing, I can't stop seeing them. Mostly on 4runners and Tacoma.

Anything to cover that bowl of spaghetti and make it look more organized. BTW, as far as heat goes, when the hood is down, guess what, that is no different than an appearance cover as far as trapping heat. Vehicles have had appearance covers for decades with no problem whatsoever. You're also keeping a lot of dust and crud from accumulating around all the sensors and preventing water intrusion from puddle splashes. There was a reason why manufacturers put them on in the first place. They don't waste a dime on a part if there wasn't a good reason. Now they just want to save a few bucks and figure everything will be OK till the warranty expires.

It’s gonna be a long, hot summer.

Small displacement turbo four cylinder pushing around 5000lbs of Toyota. Might consider going the opposite route, hood removed. Let that little guy breath.

    Sun’s out, gun’s out, hood’s off.

The FWD version of the T24A-FTS has an engine cover that is designed to scoop air from the front and direct it to the turbo for cooling. Since the turbo is up front in the non-transverse configuration, I guess it didn't need the extra air flow.
