For those who carry a spare CV shaft. What do you have it stored in?
I'm trying to find a reasonably sized and priced hard case and not having much luck.

I keep it in the AutoZone box with the little foam square still around the end.

I did that on the Arkansas trip. The cardboard reenforced with duct tape and wrapped in Saran Wrap to keep it dry. While it did ok on that trip I need a better solution.
If nothing else I have some 19mm (3/4" in freedom units) black laminate plywood I could use to knock together a crate but I rather have something lightweight.

    How are your plumbing skills?
4 or 6" pvc with some end caps. might do.

If I didn't already keep my ratchet straps, and hitch in there, that would be a great idea. Nice and dry with no chance to fly around.

I keep all those things in there plus spare inner and outer tie rod ends. Play more tetris!

I was looking at 6" pvc for fishing rods, so they aren't getting banged around in the bed.

I also have mine in the original box and in my plywood bed box since the Arkansas trip. The bed box isn't covered, but the tonneau cover is mostly water tight.

@Camerasandcoffee if you want to make a crate, I have quite a few scraps of 1/4" and 1/2" thick black HDPE plastic cut from 4x8 sheets. You're welcome to it if you want to go that route. Pocket hole screws and some sealant in the seams maybe.

Sheboygan Vortex. Rained all day, on a forecast that called for a 43% chance of rain from 1100 to 1500. Not a heavy rain, but rain none the less.

The scraps and cutoffs are from a project I did for work and most of the sheets were bought from Midland Plastics in New Berlin. They have a retail store on site and they are pretty helpful with whatever you may need.
