I got rid of my turntable and vinyl records back in the early 90s.
Shoulda kept them I guess.
Many had been played only once, when I recorded them to chrome cassette tape.
I also borrowed records and recorded them, so I had quite a lot of cassettes.

There are plenty of diehards who still insist that vinyl sounds better than digital.
They'll say things like "it has a warmer sound".
They're not wrong.

Digital is more accurate and has almost zero noise.
Fact.

It's the very inaccuracies of the tech which gives that something that so many find pleasing about vinyl.
And a good recording on top quality chrome cassette tape could be very close to the vinyl sound.
For lack of a better description, vinyl sounds less "sharp" to me than digital.
You can't quite replicate it, fiddle with an equalizer and filters all you want.

And if there are any audiophiles reading this who want to argue, have at me

I’m old enough to remember 8-tracks, vinyl, cassettes, CDs, etc.
Needles getting stuck, scratches on your favorite songs, players eating your tape, rewinding with a bic pen, hauling your collection around in suitcases…
Digital is the way to go, baby. I love it
