Anyone have experiences/tips/advice with towing a travel trailer? I have 2007 Prerunner 4.0 v6 looking to tow a trailer in the 4,000 to 4,500 lb range.

When you get it loaded up it’ll be more like 5000 to 5500 lbs. Your truck may be rated for that much but your towing experience will be shitty. It will suck. Get a smaller trailer or a bigger truck.

You need a bigger truck. Towing near or at max ratings usually sucks, and you are going way beyond that.

You're asking for advice about towing significantly over your rating, and the only advice for that is DON'T.

And before you start asking about what mods can make it possible; there are none. Tow and payload ratings aren't just about suspension holding the weight without sagging. It takes into account engine and transmission cooling, stopping ability, and handling as well. Specifically those rating take into account emergency braking and handling. Exceeding that is gambling with your safety and the safety of others on the road.

Get a WAY smaller trailer or a bigger truck. Honestly for a trailer in that weight range you should look at something like the 2007-2021 Tundras or their equivalents. Midsize trucks are not good for lots of towing and definitely not at that weight.
