You’re looking at $180 in water alone for a 4 person family.
Gas is no cheaper than electric. You basically have 1 company that supplies all the gas and electric.
And 2 water supply companies.

And most places are starting to implement a mandatory sewer hookup, if your property is within so many feet of a property line.

There is an old farmhouse on the property that got subdivided into the 55+ community, and it is being restored and sold as well...

 

Yup that big bathroom is for accessibility. Same reason the sink has nothing below.

 

The house does not fall under the jurisdiction of the 55+ community, so anybody who can either pony up close to $1 million in cash or qualify the mortgage can move in, regardless of age. The house was built in 1860 and has been pretty extensively renovated as you see; I took a look through the windows and it would appear that the kitchen hasn't even been started yet...
