Shipping industry isn't buying electric ships they are using ammonia and methane gas. They are sourcing the ships fom China.

Not quite, but pretty close. 2024 BMW M3 curb weight is 3840 pounds. The 2024 Tacoma Pro is 5100 pounds.

And yet the resource extraction argument is never pointed at the oil and gas industry. It's only ever brought up regarding lithium.

Ahh fair. I was thinking about the AWD model, I guess. Still a ridiculous weight for a sports sedan, though.

I'd prefer the IS500 myself. Not really in the same class as an M3 but damn is that thing sexy.

We live in a consumer economy world and bigger/newer/faster is always better to the bulk of consumers.

He posts a link about a single shipping merchant buying 4 new dual-fuel ammonia and methanol (which is NOT the same thing as methane [natural gas]). Yeah guy, we know. IMO (international maritime organization) restrictions on sulphur emissions that came into effect in 2020 drastically curbed demand for high-sulphur bunker fuel, so now there are several alternate fuels that are more popular for new ships, like those named above.
