For the most part Joying is not SiriusXM ready. I have a SiriusXM SXPL1V1 Onyx Plus and instead of tuning in a FM station, I have the audio from the Onyx plugged into a RCA out jack on the Joying unit. I then set a SXM icon up on the AGAMA launcher. I turn on the Onyx, tap the XM icon and that's it. For me this works and sounds really good.

My Joying unit has knobs, but if you touch the top/middle portion of the screen a volume "slide" pops up where you can control the volume. At least it does on mine.

Trying to get my steering wheel controls working. I had cut the plug on my truck, to install the previous interface for the controls. The plug that goes to the head unit has a "AUX IN R" and an "AUX IN L" RCA connectors on it. Are these necessary to get the steering wheel controls working? Doesn't seem like they would be.

Just installed the 9 inch android 12 unit, anyone else disappointed with how dim the screen is on full brightness? I was able to reuse the factory brackets, you need to move the four screen clips a few positions upward, the screen sticks out slightly but I will elongate the holes in the factory brackets to get it flush.

That's what I've noticed in all the reviews, both models look brighter than mine. Viewing strait on it's acceptable but viewing from the side washes out all the color and everything is too dark.

Got a 9'' and no concern with the brightness.

See my post #1484 for some pictures of the screen.

    Some potential thoughts:
What time your clock is step up? For me I had to force the manual config as the unit was not able to synchronized with my phone resulting in a "night" view during the day.
Another idea is to switch headlights on then off ... I noticed couple of times the headhunt struggling with the night view set up.

Did you set the brightness level using the menu on the head unit?

Yes it's 100%, dimming works normally when I turn on headlights, I drive with them off during the day. Day/night mode works when I set the time span. On the android 12 unit brightness is in their custom launcher it does not switch over to stock android menu, it works normally when adjusting just is not bright enough.

Yeah, I have version 10 and don't plan on updating. Have you emailed Joying about your issue. I've emailed them a couple of times and they do respond. Just take into account the time difference.

There is also a forum. It's not all that active, but still a shot.

I just sent them an email, from comparing to the other units I think this is an OLED panel, there is no backlight bleed, but in a car it doesn't seem like a good choice they don't get as bright.

So why would someone choose a joying or dasaita over an alpine or kenwood. Most audio pros would say either if those 2 as top choices. Just curious to hear the rationale here.

I have the Joying 9" unit. I've had several alpine/pioneer units in past vehicles. I chose the Joying because it looked more "integrated", (didn't have to use a dash kit), and was able to get a bigger screen (instead of the floating screens, or standard double din)

I have an Alpine, that I paid quite a bit for, and I hated it. I love the Joying I have now. As a 43 yr old machinist, my ears aren't good enough anymore to pick up the difference in SQ, if there is any.

Just recently went with Pioneer 9" unit. Price not to bad at $599. Love having Android Auto. Made our trip very enjoyable with bigger navigation and Amazon music for the whole trip. Looks great as well.

What did you hate about it? What do you love about the joying so much. If price wasn't the issue, let's say each unit was given to you. Which would you install and why?

Things I'd consider feature of a perfect head unit would include.

    1) Volume and tuning knobs.
    2) good connection with bluetooth/hands free
    3) back up camera display
    4) Steering wheel control sync
    5) flush mounted
    6) built in navigation/gps
    7) built in amp(for real estate purposes)
    8) siriusxm antenna
    9) hdradio

    1) I don't really care about knobs. I have my steering wheel controls

2)BT worked fine on both units. Android Auto was only wired on the Alpine. And even wired AA stopped working.

    3) I haven't tried backup camera on either. I have the mirror mounted camera, and plan to hook up the camera to my Joying soon.

4)Steering wheel works flawlessly on the Joying. I can't even program it however I want. On the Alpine, the buttons were hit or miss, sometimes they'd work sometimes they wouldn't. However, this could have been because of the SWI-RC interface.

5)Joying isnt flush because I went with the 11.6". Being flush isn't important to me.

    6) Joying navigation works great. Only had Navigation in AA with the Alpine.

    7) Alpine sells the power pack amps for this H/U which is pretty cool.

    8)/9) I don't use either of these

    10) I feel like the picture, and touch recognition is MILES better on the Joying H/U

Sounds like you'd like the Alpine better. I just found it was limited. I used to use a tablet for OnX trails when I had the Alpine. Now I just use the Joying. I also like being able to display info via the Torque app.

So from that list what wouldn't I get from the joying?

My new 9" joying has been problematic. It randomly beeps like someone is touching it, and even rapidly changes radio stations, cycles through apps etc when it isnt being touched. Sometimes it does it so fast, it freezes. At first i thought maybe it had some greasy fingerprint or something on the screen, so i cleaned it. That didnt help. I emailed them and they asked for a photo of the system page to see what version software it has. They sent me an update, which i did, and the problem continues. I sent them a video of the unit going crazy, beeping, and rapidly switching through radio stations by itself. I want to like this thing. It looks great in the dash and it is very user friendly when it is working. Hopefully they replace it and honor their two year warranty.
