Naw, that's something we could do another trip but we're not cause I'm bringing Biscuit with us

With Bronx gone, we don't like to leave her home since she's alone

For a day or two, I thought a 2UZ 80 was something unique. Over the weekend, I talked to two local shop owners who have made multiple swaps. Rising Sun 4x4 has an extensive write up on it.
Apparently the older (Phase I) 98-99 models, like mine, are less involved.

    Interesting reading

Yeah I get that. When we head down we leave the dogs at the Dog boarding place in South Lake. Lately they have jacked up there prices. It's almost as expensive as a hotel room.

Yeah we left Biscuit at a dog hotel for Stephanie's graduation, but you're right it's getting expensive

Lucked out that we got 1 night free since I'm military but it would've been double what we paid :spending:

So we're thinking, she's small enough to just bring with us whenever we leave town

That's the great thing about a smaller dog. You can always put a mental health vest on her. Or...

Real talk; if I didn't have Biscuit, I'd benefit from a real service dog for mental health reasons

Fucking wait list is long as hell for a disabled veteran even

Shelter dogs make great companions though

Yeah, several of the programs I saw we're completely cost-free based on specific criteria like being over 70% disabled, etc which I am

But the wait times for some of those were between 14 to 24 months or more?

I remember looking them up before we got Biscuit, then telling Stephanie "we should just go to the shelter, there are too many dogs there"

Ended up getting Biscuit and doing all the paperwork the same day we went to just "look" we were on the way to do some grocery shopping too

    20220515_124214.jpg

I remember being able to pick her up way earlier than expected...we were supposed to wait 3-4 days or something? But I had gotten the call like next day so I scrambled to get her new stuff

Probably more through a government backed program or something :bananadead:

Had only considered going that route not only because they were service dogs for disabled vets, but because we had an awesome experience with our former police dog german shepherd when I was young

I had a neighbor as a kid that was in the local PD and trained dogs for them, he always had a German Shepherd around doing training exercises at home.

I guess the more I think about it the more it makes sense, it's not like some run of the mill obedience training....some of those dogs, especially for physically handicapped people can do some amazing things. I'm sure the training takes a few years
