172,000 miles first airbag light on solid. I scanned it with a cheaper scanner and it came back with codes B0103 and B0108. It led me to believe the clock spring was bad but I had no other symptoms. Figured around 172,000 It might’ve gone like It did in my tundra I replaced the clock spring and I still get the codes. Tried erasing the codes and it just keeps popping up. Maybe it’s the cheap reader that won’t reset them. But I thought once you fix the problem, you don’t even need to reset them. Can anyone else guide me where to look or does anyone have a wiring diagram for this airbag system? I thought there might be a common airbag issue with the Tacoma’s first GEN. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

B0103 (driver side) could point to the spiral cable but B0108 (pass side) does not. Since a spiral cable doesn't explain both codes I wouldn't have done that first. Both indicate a short to battery. Therefore I'd start in the wiring where a source is common to both driver and passenger side air bag circuits.

If you wanna try a common part it'd be the air bag sensor assembly, not the clock spring.

Are you talking the actual airbag on the steering wheel or the module? I changed the clock spring because it was easy and cheap. I also got to the module under the center console and looked at the plugs and wires and nothing abnormal.

Out of curiosity, did you replace with an oem clock spring or an ebay/Amazon cheapie?

The actual airbag on the steering wheel would not be common to driver and pass side airbags so I wouldn't chase that.

Yes the module is a part common to both. But I'd chase harnessing first.

I guess I’ll try to follow the harness maybe it’s rubbing through somewhere

Do you think there is someone on here with a wiring diagram for the SRS? Would be nice to know what wire goes where from the module. All my internet searching brings up nothing. 2003 Tacoma V6 extracab 4x4

Just an update. Problem fixed! It was the module, found one on marketplace for $35 easy install no more light. Just swap out, no need to program and no need to clear fault, it clears on its own.
