The dealership I used for my rear axle warrenty appointment backed my truck into a pole, shattering my back canopy window, busting my tail light and denting my tailgate.

Obviously they are focussed on replacing everything to spec, but have indicated they know that won't be the whole picture in terms of making this right.

I had my Tacoma pretty much exactly where I wanted it prior to this, but am now wondering if anyone has any recommendations for OEM parts I can additionally ask for from the dealership when they are fixing the damage they created.

I already have the locking tailgate, but would appreciate hearing about any upgrades you had done through Toyota that I can look at.

    Thanks!

Toyota dealerships don't upgrade anything, they just install new oem parts.... do you have any other preventative maintenance to perform?

    Eh, They're making it right.

Ask for a few extra free oil changes and call it good.

This would make sense. But this does imply giving them many more additional opportunities to mangle the taco in various and imaginative ways...

Nope none.. only 20,000 km on my truck.

Not really looking to bend them over or anything, but I had to cancel camping plans now and instead of being in the mountains enjoying my truck I'll have to be in the city shuttling it to different appointments with a janky, taped up backend. Seems like making it right is the minimum here.

Yeah pretty much. They've indicated they would be open to going above the replacements for me. But honestly don't really need anything else for my truck so wondering if there were small OEM pieces that'd be nice to have.

Good idea, I had called numerous dealerships in my city looking for one previously and apparently they are severely back ordered due to an issue at the factory or something?

Are you in AZ? Dealership here backed another truck into mine during the axle fix. Minor damage but the truck was perfect until then. They did make it right, but it still bothers me.

No I'm in Canada. And yeah. I had my truck pretty much exactly where I wanted it before this appointment so I'm pretty annoyed by this.

Tell them , you'd get over it for an installed TRD skid plate.

    As was said:

    TRD Skid
    Bed Mat
    *Bed Lights

    It's a stretch but....OEM LED Headlights!

Heck, headlights are a $480 upgrade if I remember correctly.

Cold Air Intake improves the look of the engine bay...if you like that.

Thanks for the input guys, the TRD Pro headlights may be my best option given they have to replace one anyway. Wouldn't really do it without this but a more subtle blacked out lights could be alright.

    Itz JDM tyte, yo!
Since you already have the power tailgate lock, I suggest the...

Bed Mat to keep stuff on the bed from sliding around as much

Bed Lights so you can see stuff in darkness

Some other OEM upgrades I have are the TRD skid plate and the TRD PRO shift knob. I also have 20+ Tacoma TRD PRO taillights that I'll be installing soon

Tailgate extender, cargo divider, floor mats (carpet if you have all-weather, all-weather if you have carpet) first aid kit, roadside assistance kit, cup holder ashtray which is also used as a coin holder, locking lug nuts, lock for spare tire, predator steps or some variant, All OEM. Look at their accessory catalog. I have found the cargo divider extremely useful.

The OEM bed steps are stupid-expensive retail so have them install one for you.

Throw in a free Toyota truckers cap from the parts store and call it a day.
