    Very true. Never been a morning person.
    When I lived in AK I worked with a gal that was so much like me it was scary. We shared an office and at one point we noticed that we’d just sort of roll in quietly in the morning, not really acknowledging one another. Then after an hour or two it was like someone flipped a switch and we’d start talking and perk up. Just took us a bit to wind up and want to get to that point

    I remember my mother telling me stories about WW2 in Detroit. My father was in Europe like many others. All the women that were left to take care of things formed a group called the “War Wives “. During the war you couldn’t by tires, gas was rationed, certain staples were in short supply, and “everybody “ recycled there cans, newspapers for the war effort. They would go around and get everyone’s grocery list to save gas, and check on each other. If something needed repaired they put their heads together and figure it out.
    I’m saddened at how people behave towards each other today. I doubt the outcome would be the same today.:censored:

    It was also pretty common for neighborhoods to start community gardens and all of the women would help with the growing, harvesting and canning and then share the goods to feed their families.

    there was a drama series on PBS that was based on the true story of a nation wide women’s social group in England that during the war decided to organize to establish bomb shelters and emergency evac plans. They also did the community garden thing and then also took to harvesting the berries that grew wild on the hedges that lined most country roads. And in more rural areas they helped out as various farms when it was needed to bring in a large crop of corn or potatoes or whatever.
    So they went from meeting for tea and gossip to basically keeping their entire community alive and fed for the duration of the war.

    Retirement doesn't mean ya have to stop working.

    It just means you get paid from 1 thing you gave most of your life to while you work at something different.

    work all day, everyday that my health allows, but not leaving that pension in there to be taken away by the gooberment. Gonna draw that pension every month & do other jobs as they fit the schedule.
