This guy gets it! I have to lift both of my doggos in to the truck, 10.5 year old GSD (100ish lbs) and 7 month old Dobbie (80ish lbs). Just wrap around their legs and hoss them up in the seat. Those steps @RockLobster has look pretty slick but I just know if I buy something like that the dogs will just look at me like I'm stupid and wait to be lifted up in. Oh well, at least I know my role.

Unfortunately 110lb wife cannot lift 80lb dog lol. Pupper just got banned from truck rides after yesterday's yearly vet visit due to some unnecessary weight gain until the loader arrives or she loose some weight lol.

Also no sticks in this house, #ballislife.

If I may offer some unsolicited doggy guidance....
The weight gain, barring some really unusual medical condition, is largely a function of (over)feeding.
If the dog really enjoys eating, substitute green beans for some fraction of their normal food.
No salt added, frozen or canned.
Also check the fat content of the food. Some are sneaky high.
I've got 4 of 6 right now on green beans. One is an older girl who easily gains weight. Another is my super-geriatric guy who is on a low maintenance dose of steroid and is hungry at all times. And the other 2 are young and smaller and simply cannot get through the day on the small but appropriate portion size.
    Good luck!

She is super food driven and as my first large dog, she was a breeze to train...once past the pup shark phase. Thanks for the tid bit and will look this up. She's a massive broccoli fan as am I. That's always readily avail and I might look into running that since green beans aren't usually in our kitchen.

The weight gain purely comes from the fact that my neighbors are my in-laws(yes i know), and they absolutely adore her. She spends evenings over at their place enjoying her second dinner of table scraps and my retired father-in-law frequently wakes up at 530am because of habit and "does us a favor and lets her out," then proceeds to sit and eat his breakfast and morning joe with her. Point is, overfeeding is very true. Something I'm struggling with since she turned 4 recently. Last year she weighed in at a stout but lean 74lbs. More then a 10% weight gain in a year is wild imho.
