OPs original post is oddly specific with unnecessary details around the story (500lb aluminum boat, needing to fix up his Prius, trading in his 2nd gen) He would need be alarming detailed liar or sociopath to do something like this

I’m still going to give him the benefit of the doubt, and honestly wouldn’t be super surprised if toyota sub-factories rushed out initial components and orders to meet their timelines, in this corporate day and age.
