I read that Ohio has produced far more astronauts than any other state. So, I gotta wonder what it is about Ohio that makes people desperate to escape from Earth :notsure:

    Story time.

If you're an EMT or something similar, please provide some feedback on proper procedure for the future.

So highly stressful event this week to tell which is probably helpful to talk about now that I am feeling better.

Tuesday, I was outside cleaning the pool late in the afternoon after work. I heard a crash and got out of the pool to check out what happened. There is a lane beside our house that goes back to a small cul de sac. Anyway, as soon as my feet hit the ground I heard screaming so I took off running. As I came around the garden I saw two young girls, neighbors kids, rolled the golf cart. One popped up without a scratch and went running back the lane for help. She didn't see me. The other was pinned under the golf cart and screaming she couldn't feel her leg. I got there and tried to help. At first I couldn't get it up, wrong leverage point.

She was pretty panicked. I was able to lift it enough for her to pull herself back and then pulled her out from between the seats and the sun shade. I'm not good with blood and there was a lot of blood. Her ankle looked like it was in half. I got her on her good foot and told her to put all her weight on me. My instinct was to get her to a car and to the hospital l, but I realize now that moving her probably wasn't smart.

Someone else pulled up then and her father showed up. We laid her down on the pavement but it was in the sun and I kinda hot, so someone else brought water and we lifted her and moved her back to the shade on the grass. Her dad is a state trooper, so the ambulance showed up first, she was still screaming and panicked at this point, so he called in a chopper which land in the field next to our house.

Tons of people showed up and I stuck around in case someone needed something. She was flown to Hopkins cause they were afraid of shock trauma. In addition to her ankle she had road rash and a lump on her head. She was awake the whole time.

Anyway, I heard she came home the next morning, her head is ok, but she has 3 broken bones in her ankle.

I felt exhausted and ache for a few days, but I think I'm ok now. I usually get queasy seeing people like that but I didn't in the moment which is good. I think it does something to your head though seeing a kid like that.

Sounds to me like you did a great job, nowadays too many people just don’t want to get involved.

In the first picture there are two juvenile red shouldered hawks. Their nest is in the woods across the street.
They been learning to hunt and doing some stellar stunt flying in my yard all week!!
I've spent an embarrassing amount of time sitting still and watching em.

Not to be a smartass (but totally being a smartass).....

I live outside the city limits so there's tons of side by sides and 4wheelers running around, I rarely see anyone over 14 driving any of them, usually they look like they're about 10. I get it; its cool, its fun...all that shit. But 97.42% of the time they're completely unsupervised.
The other day an older feller drove by my shop, he was letting a kid steer his truck...the kid looked like it was 8 months old. Wtf is the purpose of that?

Anyhow...that golf cart wreck? Thats 100% on the state trooper and his wife.

*drops mic after old man rant

Yeah I'm not a fan of kids operating heavy machinery around here. It was a bit of a shock when we first moved here and I saw a child, could not have been 7 years old, driving a giant tractor down the road.

I figured the golf cart is done for a while. Windshield broke and it wouldn't start when we got it upright again. I expect we won't see any of the kids driving any for a bit. There's another golf cart back there, but I think it's for the business.
