A few additions to make me feel cool.
You must not have much experience with the import export business. Outside of all the major ports they have massive lots where vehicles set. A lot of paperwork is required. And they are being transported via transporter not driven. It's a process. I had Toyota's in the 80's & 90's and the ones that came from Japan always had and in my opinion will always have serious rust issues. Not just because of the transit. Also due to it being manufactured in a humid salty environment. Just how it is.

WOW, I am not saying these things are falling apart off the boat. Jesus, all I am saying is that it was a problem in the past. And it is perhaps one of the downsides to being manufactured in Japan. Like it or not, it was made and lived a period of time in an extremely harsh environment. One where metals are left bare prior to being coated and therefore protected to some degree. This is a known issue, post all over the place in the 4runner world. It is my opinion, feel free to disagree but don't be so fragile as to not allow me my perspective. Happy Friday! You all need the weekend to unwind. LOL...

Though I am glad to have added to further derailing this thread. It is Friday after all.

Thanks for the pro tip on the import/export business, I’m sure you have vast knowledge on the subject matter.

Still wouldn’t buy an Obama Motors Z71 in a million years.

Don’t even know the last time anyone ever saw a Chevy from the 90s still on the road.

I deal in import and export from China, Japan, India, Mexico, Singapore and Thailand everyday (40' containers). Though it is not vehicles but I have shipped a vehicle from HI to Japan with Matson and back. And from HI back to the mainland. Thanks for your opinion of GM also. Not sure why you think I care because I do not. I am happy you have your opinion, and I am sure you have solid reasons to have them. You might want to check your local marketplace or listing site for squarebody or OBS Chevy. You might be surprised. Or you might not. Either way, LOL...

Soooo if there are that many '24 Tacoma's at that dealer with blown engines then why aren't we hearing more? Or is it just one geographical area are having blown engines? Internet would already be all over this shit by now.

I live inland SoCal probably the most ideal location for a Toyota frame on earth, I still fluid film and woolwax (what you see in the pic) because I’m super anal like that but my Toyotas are as rust free as you’ll find

Yeah, nothing really rusts here in NV either other than they started using brine on the roads in the winter. It's all in how you maintain it.

Yeah exactly cal trans here in SoCal and California sprays brine too plus I do a lot of Utah and Colorado and Wyoming and west coast camping. It boggles my mind how people in the salt belt let their frames rust I mean I know ignorance but you figured if you live in the salt belt fluid film and woolwax is common knowledge maybe people are just lazy it only takes about 30 minutes to apply it once a year

gross there's not a single truck on this earth I would want less than a new Chevy z71.
My first vehicle was an older chevy cheyenne with 4 on the floor. It was pretty sweet.

I'm just surprised you correlate rust to the location of the manufacturer in the 90s, and not a lack of innovation during the 90s like in modern vehicles? improved materials, better coatings and treatments, enhanced mfg processes, design improvements?

There are literally dozens of old Toyotas from the 90s still on the road I see everyday. Can't say the same for 90s Chevy's. Therefore, I don't need to check my local marketplace!!

Funny I was watching Mecum today and saw more 80’s-90’s GM trucks than anything else.
