This must be what heaven looks like.

 

Had Tessa to the vet first thing this morning. Spare you the messy and stinky details, she was diagnosed with large bowel diarrhea and an irritated pancreas. Sub-q fluids, something to firm her stool, antibiotics and probiotics, and a bland diet. She ate some a few hours after the.vet visit and has spent the better part of the day laying in the sun and moving to.the shade, not far from me.

Looks like nap time after a second serving of her bland food diet.

 

What happened?

 

Not sure. She started in diarrhea Wednesday evening. Gave it Thursday to see if she just ate something that disagreed with her. This morning as I'm getting up she barked twice with the higher pitched bark that sounded like she was scared or confused. Downstairs a minute later and she had messed herself in the crate. Got her outside and she went again. About 20 minutes later she's laying in the sun on the deck, stood up and vomited. When I was cleaning her back end I saw a small amount of bright red blood on the towel. Started looking for the closest vet.

Vet is running stool samples and thr vomit. Should here something back on Monday. Blood was normal for the bowel issue.

 

Get better doggy.

 

Mine fell off the back of the couch and couldn't put any weight on her left front paw. The vet thinks it's a bad sprain. She got some meds and we have to see what happens over the next few days to week.

 

We have a sensitive tummy girl too and same stuff vet gave you as us. It's scary with the blood thing. Man I feel lucky Mal has never messed in the house even when she had explosive diarrhea. Chicken is our nemisis! Boiled chicken breast and over cooked rice with extra water should help her out.

Pumpkin puree goes a long way for dog gastrointestinal issues. It firms up loose stool and softens up constipation. It can be given everyday and is a tasty addition to their bowl. For the pups with sensitive stomachs a prebiotic and a probiotic will also help avoid a flair up and inflammation. Dogs eat the same food everyday causing a situation where they don't have enough variety of bacteria in their gut. With the lack of variety of bacteria, the remaining bacteria are all fighting for the same types of "food" in the GI tract. In the absence of food the bacteria begins to eat away at the mucus in their gut causing all kinds of issues. The probiotics add different types of bacteria, and the previotics are the additional "food" source for the bacteria.
