In my experience the Fox shocks are delightfully simple to service and haven't changed in many years. Rock Shox are fiddly, require some special tools and should just get dropped off at the shop. YMMV depending on your level of commitment.

I was conflicted because there's YouTube vids of guys rebuilding Rock Shox that make it look easy. However, when I went to my go to bike shop the owner said they send Rock Shox out instead of doing them in house and cost could be as high as $250. When I showed him the RC3 DB for $299 instead of the repair his comment was "buy it".
I'll probably give the rebuild a try since I'm not losing much if I screw it up. If I ever buy another shock, this is something to keep in mind if choosing between Fox or Rock Shox.

You probably just need an air sleeve service? Pretty damn easy to do on the Monarchs, nothing special required other than a seal kit, and oil/grease.

They just opened A-line, I expect top to bottom hoe-pro laps. I'd bite but I have multiple obligations next week. Probably will also shoot for the week after, I need some lerp-laps.

Those of you with tailgate pads, how do you like using them? How secure are the bikes? Which pad do you have?

I was looking at ways to build a roll-in carrier for my truck but I had a deadline coming up and ran into too many obstacles, so I wound up grabbing a Dakine pad instead. I haven't used it yet, just a dry run of loading/unloading and seeing how stable the bikes feel in the driveway...it's got me thinking I should have saved my money.

For reference, I have a 2019 Kona Mahuna, a 2019 Trek Marlin 5, and a 2004 S-Works Epic. I think the Epic fits the best of the three, but all bikes have a lot of movement side to side... crashing into one another, crashing into the sides of the bed, front wheels of the 29er's bumping and rubbing on the bumper corners...this can't be right, can it?

I haven't tried any of my other bikes yet but I assume they'll all fit roughly the same. I have a '79 Raleigh road bike, a 2000's DK General Lee, and a couple 1950's beach cruisers, all of which could potentially have an opportunity to be transported, and I'm not crazy about this pad.

I’ve hit 80 mph on dirt roads with my bike on my Race Face T2. Granted the race face has really good straps and on the inside has some deep channels in the padding to stop the bike from side to side. Sure the rear wheel pivoted a little bit. But I had some other stuff back there too so it couldn’t completely flop around and hurt the derailleur

Definitely the easiest way to load bikes. Using the straps on my dakine pad made the bikes feel more secure.

Interesting roaster. Pricey! I have a rigged up setup that cost me about $50 until I added digital heat logging. I use an old bread maker and a heat gun, thermocouple in to the chamber, bluetooth connection from thermocouple to ipad to log. I've roasted a good 400-500 lbs of coffee through it probably and can do 1 lb batches. Happy to chat more so message me if you are interested!

    Negative.

Work decided to get real spicy right before it showed up, so it’s been moving at my usual glacial pace

I did cut the steerer last night on the 36 after quintuple checking my stack and everything. That was a little nerve wracking being my first one ever, but it looks great. Hoping to build on the momentum and get ‘er done here soon.

As long as it gets built faster than some of your truck parts get installed.:bananadead:

Oh yeah, these don’t need nearly as much ‘garage shelf seasoning’ as the truck parts do :anonymous:
