Ouch. My Colorado puked the U joints at about 35K and GM said TFB. Not to mention the engine failure they were notorious for.

Tell me you didn't get raked over the coals with the Tahoe water pump..

Unfortunately I was just informed today that I am an idiot. 10 years as a mechanic back in the day. Owned over 10 Toyota pickups from 1979-2011. A 4Runner or two. A first gen tundra and more than 15 chevys in my life but what do I know. some guy has an opinion that differs from mine and has convinced himself I give a fuck. Lol.

Pretty much. I have no dog in this fight. It’s just Friday and I saw nothing going down and this thread seemed like a great place to start some shit.

I just changed it myself. The coolant cost more than the pump. 18 quarts because it has the rear AC. They did change the design so you just change the pulley and impeller on the new gen 5.3 so it’s a 30 min job but still should not fail like that. Plus you have to flush the block. It’s the wife’s car. I am a GM guy but have owned a lot of Toyotas as daily’s. Need a full size and not a fan of the new Tundra. I have a 86 square body. A 2010 Z71, 18 Tahoe and 21 Silverado and an 06 C6. I suspect the wife will be back in a 4Runner when the kids are off to college.

Yeah, that's a little soon as are the U joints. Should have known I'd have issues when the dealer tried to say we don't warranty those because they always fail when people take these trucks off road. Which I never did unless you count hauling house stuff to the dump on the dirt road in the facility.

It’s all good man. People have a difference in opinion and I was trying to Friday the hell out of this thread. All manufacturers have good and bad. People like and need different things. And that’s a good thing. I am sure your Toyotas are fine vehicles and overall they still make the best daily drivers on the road. Have a great weekend. My work here is done.

No, not 50 yet. Work full time. Grew up on a large farm and used Toyota pickups as farm trucks. Was a mechanic so went through a lot of cars. Now can afford to have the vehicles I want as a hobby for the most part. Not because of a payout but because of years of hard work. Work I continue to do. The 2010 Silverado went to my youngest son on Tuesday as he just got his learners. Anything else you would like to know?
And they do break. The Silverado dropped a lifter so just put a crate 5.3 in that for the kid and held onto it a couple of summers ago. I didn’t say they were great. Just what I like and have.

They all have issues now it seems. My 21 Silverado has a noise in the rotating assembly somewhere and I haven’t taken it to the dealer because I don’t want to lose my shit when they tell me it’s normal. I need to figure it out and tell them what it is. I still have a few months of warranty to get that done.
