What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Did the "Auto Up/Down On All Windows" mod today... finally.

Was a 5 min swap. Easy peasy. Love it.

 

Finally took it off road boys and girls lol!

 

So, I've been seeing a lot of this lately, and maybe I haven't read far enough back yet to answer my question, so I'll ask it here:

Does this make all of your windows auto? Literally just changing the switch is all it takes??

 

Yep that's exactly what it does. All four windows are now auto up and auto down capable.

Just button module swap - can be found on eBay. 5 min install.

 

That's wild. I always figured it was controlled by the BCM.

Guess I know what I'm doing next.

 

Same as most of you. Took me more time to decide to make the mod vs ordering, receiving and installing the part.

If you don't mind me asking, how much and what site did u order your windshield from?

 

Im seeing several ranging from $30 to $100. Most of the $30 ones I see have blue light. I want white but I don’t want to spend $100. Anyone have a good one to go with?

I work for a Lexus dealership so I was able to order it through my parts department. Then I had Glassworks which is a shop down the street that we use for replacing windshields in some of our used cars and they came out and replaced it. I think the windshield and moldings ran me around $500 and the. $160 to install which I thought was a little pricey but they did a great job.

$500 was my employee pricing. Not sure what it would be to a consumer.

EDIT: The other option is to get the passenger side one as well - I should have done that. Only got drivers side.

I never paid a penny for a windshield. Comprehensive insurance has a zero deductible. Can't you make an insurance claim to recover all, or most, of that money ? There is no effect on insurance premiums for comprehensive claims.

 

Finally wrapped up this mod today.

Curious if anybody else has tackled this upgrade yet?

I tried to get it covered under a hail claim but they wouldn’t.

 

I washed it

 

The switches only work on the 2.5 Gens. Those of us with 05-11 can’t use them.
