    Random observations.

Drove home last night in BO Sport. ACC set 75 to 85 (80 was max limit on parts of drive), air con on, terrain flat to slight rolling. Gentle headwind (area known for gusts, signs posted, and could see tall grass bent) at least 25% of drive.

Totally unscientific: new truck with tires at 36psi best average was 19.1 on 87 octane.

And the hood SHAKES so hard above 80. Few times thought dealer forgot to close hood properly.

That ACC is great for a non-luxury truck. First time using the tech in any car, in fact, I've never been fan of even basic cruise, but this was my longest boring drive in many years. Now I wouldn't own a long distance traveling car (not my truck's intended use) without adaptive cruise control, and the lanekeep and other nannies judged corner speed and moderated lane movement without being obnoxious and trying to yank the wheel into the other lane.

Probably my last long distance interstate journey in the Tacoma, but the half day drive was a great way to break in the truck.

I didnt know the truck drove itself until i turned on the cruise. It does pretty good, I didn't even have to stop it from crashing itself!

Coming from a 2nd gen I'm not used to all the tech either

I wonder if it is the hood scoop on the sport models that cause the shaking. I have a off road premium and have never had the hood shake above 80

I was thinking that too. My Sport hood does vibrate a little at speed, just visual, no noise. If it bothered me, I'd take the scoop off and see if that changes things.

Thanks for the report. So 80 MPH would be higher than the 8th gear optimum speed for mileage I take it? I'm assuming you're an automatic. I think I read on here that EPA testing targets 60MPH for highway speeds, so probably if it was cruising at 70 you'd get better mileage, 22-23? What was your RPM at?

It's been a few days, but if I remember correctly my automatic Sport was around 2200rpm at around 85mph.

I have an offroad upgrade pkg and the hood on mine sorta vibrates/flexes a bit with wind going about 75mph. Just seems like they have cheap hoods that aren't supported as well as they could be.
