Tow dry when you can. You'll be fine. You have a good setup. Weight distrubtion hitch is a must. I'm about 3900 dry. 20210727_130758.jpg

When towing full tanks she's a bit of a slug. But will do it OK.

Thanks for all the help! Made it back to Florida after 1400 mile trip through some solid terrain, Smokies, Danial Boone so forth. Husky WDH and air bags running at 20psi. Running in 4th 90% of the time, up hard grades 3rd and rare to hit 4k rpm. Typical is 4th, 2600 rpm. Did oil change after getting back, next trip will be out west In Jan. Seems to handle it well, will change Trans fluid at 30k. mpg about 13 doing 60mph and 11.5 at 65-70...60 seems sweet spot. Considering the Anderson WDH/sway hitch though just due to the Husky weight close to 100pds vs 58.

After reading a lot about towing with the Tacoma and people saying it is “stressful” because of higher RPMs I was a little nervous about the RV trailer I bought which completely loaded is 4000 lbs. My first trip was 4 hours to the destination and I couldn’t believe how stress free the experience was. It towed like a champ. So much better than I expected. I am now excited to travel as much as I can this summer!

I am new to the 3nd Gen with a 2020, my old was a 2015. So towing a short ways last weekend I found the ETC mode made the truck act more like a truck. I don’t get the S + - shift, on the 2015 I could manually shift,…. is the S + - used the same?

The S mode can work as a pseudo manual shift up/down but that not its purpose. S mode is a top gear limiter, allowing you to “lock out” the OD gears (5&6) by selecting 4 as your top gear when towing. The trans will function as it does in D (up/down shifts) except it will not try to shift above the gear you select as top. Also good for engine braking allowing you to manually drop down a gear (-), then shift back up (+).

ECT changes the shift points and you’ll find it will hang on to gears a bit longer before shifting up. A bit more “trucky” for sure.

Thanks for the reply and info. It does seem the 2020 has a bit more power.
Added…I used the S mode today and it seemed to default right where I wanted it to 4 and since Most of my driving is around town that was Perfect!, Thanks again.

4 is the default when you select S mode.
