Those little bar end mirrors I added are kinda cool- they’re convex so even though they’re small, you get a wider view. If I’m being completely honest with myself, they’re still pretty worthless on the monkey though. The low placement just isn’t really comfortable to check as I’m riding- I mainly wanted them to keep an eye on tailgaters or emergency vehicles coming up behind me. It’s far easier for me to turn around since the bike is so small anyway.

looks nice. was supposed to be there that day as well but life had other plans...

hope you all had a better weekend than I did. took the R6 out to get more familiar with it, was taking it very easy and had only been out 30 minutes, hadn't even entered the canyons yet, but I laid it down. Albeit not too badly at very low speed, my ego is hurt the worst. Guess I got my first street crash out of the way finally. Hopefully only.

Entered a tight downhill right turn that was just after a slight crest on a road I was totally unfamiliar with. braked a little too hard into the turn, rear tire locked and slid out. tried to correct, tire caught and flipped me over into a high side. I had entered the turn at about 30mph, probably braked down to 20 or so when the bike kicked. I only landed about 5 feet from the bike, bike didn't slide very far at all. both still in the street after coming to a stop, albeit the other lane. Luckily a very suburban road so no traffic.

Bike seems to be okay, albeit the front headlight fairing clips all broke and it's just held on by screws now. Left clip-on rotated back a bit as well, and windshield broken but otherwise bike runs well and tracks straight, rode it home. Couple scraped patches along the side fairings. Got an unpainted replacement headlight shroud on the way.

I'm okay, was wearing full gear. Ankle was a little banged up feeling on Sunday but feels pretty good now. back and shoulders a little sore where I hit but nothing limiting movement/range of motion so I count myself lucky. Gear barely shows any damage at all

overall just pissed at myself for doing this. the repairs are whatever, damage to myself nonexistent, and it certainly could have been a lot worse if not my last ride. ego in shambles. let me have it. No I did not ride to work today :(

tl;dr I'm a fucking idiot and laid down the R6, bike damage is minimal as well as personal injury unless you count my ego.

eh not so sure about that tbh.. if you are wanting a more dirtbike look id just buy the crf300l plastics and bolt them on instead of cutting the rally plastics. but you do you

Yeah, they worked but one side has a stem that's about an inch taller than the other so I had to space one side up and cut the other side down. Wasn't bad, especially when each mirror was something like $3 and they've been doing fine ever since.

Bikes can be fixed, glad you're OK

The first day I had my F800GS I was pulling into my parking lot, got cut off, grabbed too much front break and high sided it at like 2mph but still ended up on the ground. Like you said, got the first crash out of the way, and moving on!

Plastics won't work. Different gas tanks. It'd have the same look as the AT/Transalp with the exposed engine........just need the sweet ass gold wheels

    Waste of money.
Acerbis tank is $450, plastics a couple hundo.

    I can cut plastics for free......and if I don't like....still cheaper than new tank/plastics :D

The stock tank is small, so that isn't an option either :D

thanks guys. yeah it was probably the best case scenario for what happened, barring not crashing at all. ultimately most important that I'm physically fine, which ironically leaves me more mental real estate to beat myself up about it lol.

but such is life, you live and learn. we'll both be back on the asphalt soon enough.

Finally got out on the bike for a short bit of errands. Spent more time off the bike than on, but it resulted in me getting the broken allen wrench out of the tank bolt, so that's good.

Now I need to do some research to find out if the tank ring reused the stock bolts or if it replaced them with longer ones. I'm betting they are new.

@nd4spdbh or @but why tho would one of you take a pic of your fuel cap so I can see the bolts?

I don't know how helpful these are because I have the tank bag base on mine but here you go:
