OME Heavy Duty Lift Question

Question: Will the 3" OME heavy duty lift(886) ride to stiff and high on my pretty much stock '08 Tacoma? I will only be running this for about 6months to a year before I purchase my front winch bumper?

I called Toytec and they said it would be WAY TO STIFF and to go with the 884's then just switch over to the 886's(Imagine that).

 

What cab configuration is your truck? 886 springs are appropriate for plate bumper and winch equipped double cabs.


If you know you will be adding a winch and plate bumper then purchase the 886 springs, I'm an advocate of doing things right the first time. If you are not purchasing the bumper for a while, I personally would wait to buy the lift after I have gathered all my components.

 

Which bumper ?

 

Buy the lift. Don't put it on.

Wait for bumper. Buy beer. Have a drunken weekend after putting on lift and bumper.

886 will shatter your spine on a stock Taco.

 

It's an access cab w/standard bed.

 

I'm torn between Relentless Fab and Shrock Works. I like the look of the Shrockworks more, but, I live in Oregon and I would love to promote a local company. I'm just concerned with Relentless Fab's gap on his bumpers. All the pictures I've seen thus far show about a 1" gap between the bumper and the bottom of the headlights. I also like the price of ARB's stuff but not having recovery points on the front blows ass. Who would you recommend?

 

Shit, yeah right.. That's like asking my girlfriend just to put the tip in.. I know damn good and well if that thing has to sit in my garage more than 3 months, I'll be installing before I get the bumper..

I bought the Relentless Fab aluminum , which allows me to go with 885's

What was your turn around time on that bumper? How's the gap in the front?

 

The aluminum bumper is about 50lbs lighter right??? How much did you pay after everything was said and done if you don't mind my asking? I want to stay around $1100.

If you want to spend less money and get a steel bumper then you can wait to install it. Honestly. Truthfully.

I had brand new Mickey Thompsons MTZs ready to install that I had to wait 3 weeks to put on because I needed new Spline nuts. I wasn't going to spend $100 on new ones, when I got second hand, perfectly good ones for $60.

My UCA's? Had them for over a month and some now. Waiting for good weather to install them.

Do it the first time. Do it right.

You'll get it for under that , I had to get mine shipped to Canada .

 

You don't need 886's for your AC if you use the aluminum bumper .

886's are intended for a DC with an aftermarket steel bumper and winch .

 

886's are for any truck with bumper and winch regardless of AC or DC.

 

Like I said before, it will be at least 6 months to a year before I'm in the market for a winch bumper. If it were only a month or so, I'd wait and throw em on then. But, I got a grand out on new wheels(one of a kind that I'll be posting on here in the next couple of weeks), another grand out on DT long tube headers and "Y" pipe, and another possible two grand on a lift. It's going to be a little while before I throw on a front and back plate bumper.

 

Are you going to NEED a lift to fit new wheels and tires (if bought)?
