I could swear I saw your dog at the vet this morning. But you a bit further west than I am, so probably not.

    Get better puppy!

She's doing OK with the diet, except we're doing pork as we think she has a chicken allergy.

Thanks, and me too! Kinda miss the morning play time on my days off.

Tessa's breakfast is a pumpkin & sweet potato puree, about a 1/4 can of Purina One in gravy (we rotate the protein) about 1.5-2 inches if banana and sometimes a couple blueberries. She gets a large breed beef and sweet potato kibble from Costco (because I can't find Science Diet without chicken!) and couple of home made and / or good store bought treats, as well as some of the fruit or veggies we may be snaking on. Although shes kind of finicky with carrots

My vet was just outside of Pittsburgh. Not my normal vet, who closed at noon. Nice vet and staff and much cheaper than I thought. It looks like it is a sprain because she is trying to put some weight on it today. No walk for her for awhile though.

We are certain Mal is allergic to chicken because anytime she eats it we see the dia___ and so on.

Wife makes oatmeal, banana, peanut butter cookies for after dinner, and she gets frozen banana chips after breakfast which is Victor Lamb and Brown rice with Victor Lamb and Brown rice pate` mixed and put into a Soda Pup/Kong with peanut butter topping frozen. I make 7 at a time.

    How she feeling today?

    Yeah.
You know, I never thought about it but our dogs don't really get any chicken. They get beef and pork scraps from whatever I grill or smoke, but we don't really have scraps when I do chicken. Their food is lamb and brown rice. So I have no idea if they would react badly to chicken.

A couple years ago my older male Shiba was gassing me out and seemed uncomfortable, so the vet gave us some Purina pro-biotic packets to put on his food. Now we just give the dogs a dollop of plain greek yogurt with their meal and it seems to agree with them.

I feed Kimo fruits all the time. Watermelon is good because it has a lot of water in it. Canteloup, apple (no seeds), pineapple. Banana. As long as you don't feed a lot of sugary stuff and stay away from whole apples and grapes (and raisins), rhubarb and cherries as they contain poisons. Avocados are also something to be careful with--the meat is OK but the skin, pit, and leaves of the plant are not good. Everything in one of those Chic-fil-A fruit cups is good. Apples and grapes have poisonous seeds. Avocados, cherries, and rhubarb have poisonous skins, seeds and stems.

Poultry is probably the most likely to cause allegric reactions. The vet talked about novel proteins which are things like venison, lamb, salmon, buffalo as being less likely to cause skin problems. I've been feeding the probiotics as well (Purina Fortiflora).

There's so much to consider in the pet care industry. Like pre-packaged foods, human grade foods, and so on--if they try to guilt you into buying, they're expensive :)

Riley was having a hell of a time skin wise, his vet spent a fair bit of time helping. She's really pretty good at that stuff. Kimo has benefitted from that :)

We took the step last night of moving her to our room just in case she had to go out over night. Got her up about 0415 for work and she seemed pretty normal as far as behavior. I fed her the rocommended amount of food and she was looking for more. And wanted to play a little instead of going back to bed. Can't say I blame her.

I think I'm going to add in the sweet potato/pumpkin again to give her a little more content as it's been a regular part of her diet.

Wife said she was being clingy this morning, as she was with me yesterday.

I par boil yams, sliced about 1/2" thick, then dehydrate them. Our shepherd/lab loves them and since yams are only 60 cents a lb, they're the world's cheapest dog treats.

Going to increase her serving sizes since she is looking for food. May start mixing a small.amount of her kibble in added the sweet potato and pumpkin yesterday.

Looks like Tessa is turning the corner on this. Another mostly solid BM today, and a little larger than yesterday. We increased the amount of food, but she is still looking for more a few hours later. Actually wanted to play tonight and her head was on a swivel when we sat on the front porch.

Plan is one more day of bland diet and Wednesday we'll introduce some of regular food with the bland over a couple days to see how she does.
