I’ve been looking at pop up wedge campers and have a question.
GFC’s seem crude compared to what else is on the market yet they are 2-3k more, by crude I guess I mean lack of window options and the way the tent floor is set up. Is it the weight to strength ratio or maybe the name brand thing?

GFC makes some odd decisions that other companies have corrected. GFC these days seems to be the least desirable of any of these imo.

    What odd decisions?

I think they are running on their brand name a lot but least desirable is a stretch

From a product/buyers perspective, for starters, they spent all their initial money on marketing only to have their door panels falling off and being forced into a redesign. In retrospect though, this was a genius move from a business perspective and likely only led to more sales lol

Overall, they aren't worth the price anymore with other companies popping up left and right.

I'm looking right now so who would you recommend as a all US made camper from a company that has great customer service, I can trust to be around in a few years and will fix their problems and be under $8-9K
Also I'm looking for extrusion with t slots for ease of mounting lights/awning etc

I would look into TopoToppers , they are local to me so I went and checked them out , they are very well made and offer some good options including a hard side pop up.

The no option to have slots is a deal breaker. Lights, awning, just the Lil shit that I want to mount is impossible with a sheet metal frame. Small side doors just look weird in pictures but I haven't seen one in person so it might be a non issue

BAMF is remaking the Vagabond Drifter. Without a doubt the best camper in that price range. I’ve just about had all the options and the vagabond was noticeably the best. I only sold it because Vagabond was going out of business due to some seriously shady shit, but now that BAMF has taken over they are in amazing hands and would be my first choice.

A distant second choice for me would be ORU Tenfold. Third, Topo or GFC (they have the most aftermarket support for accessories like the T Slots).

No option for side doors on the vagabond that open & only to have to spend $1k for a window, granted it's impressive but way out of the price range for a window for me

GFC is significantly lighter than anything else on the market that I've seen. Does that come with drawbacks? Sure.

edit: It does look like the Oru Tenfold is around the same weight. Hadn't heard of that one before. Certainly doesn't look nearly as polished, though, and also seems like it's much taller over the cab.

Poking around on the Topo website makes it sound like the Mesa might be slightly lighter?

Not sure your time frame but the site says longer than expected wait time. I emailed and never got a response but seems like most places are 6 months out

Topo said early Sept and Oru is about 5 weeks wait, this is as of last week. Both places are within an hour of me so I visited both last week. Evidently a lot of people finance these things and maybe realize spending 6-10k on a camper with high interest isn’t a good idea right now
