I'm assuming the stalls are open, and totally lack privacy, so that patients can be watched at all times; I could NOT deal with having to take a dump out in the open! Also, that opening behind the toilet seem to be some sort of service access panel for the plumbing and/or heating system. It seemed because enough for an average-sized patient to escape...

 

Soap dispensers really haven't changed much in the last four decades...

There's my beautiful girlfriend! This appeared to have been some sort of multi-patient observation area, and was likely hell on earth for those who resided in it...

 

I do believe that these were the very last patients housed here...

 

All that's missing here is a crazy-looking guy (or girl) in a straitjacket...

 

I just find it amusing that the place for the most looked like a prewar looney bin, but the bathrooms were clearly updated in the 1950s and these faux wood light fixtures were probably installed in the 1970s or 1980s. The whole place is just one big clashing design nightmare!



Seriously, 1979 called and it wants its light fixtures back!
