Emailed my Honda dealer to see if he can get me the 2025 OEM Luggage bags and racks for the Grom. He was able to, so I got those ordered, he's saying they should be here Thursday. Hell yeah.



Didn't get the top case, just the side ones. TBD if it'll work with my high mount exhaust, but I'm excited to see anyway. Worst case scenario I sell one bag and one half of the mounts.

 

Dude that is awesome! I didn't even know that was an option. How much are the racks and bags?

I want one as an Africa Grom now with little knobbies.

 

A bit spendier than I would have liked, but not bad overall.



I haven't seen the hand guards confirmed for the US market yet, but I'll probably order those if they are and I can find a part # for them. I tried the XR150 handguards but it used a different clutch perch and is closer to the bars and doesn't clear the groms clutch lever.

 

Should've got giant loop bags. Then you'd really flinch! It's high quality but it's high price as well.

I imagine the Honda bags are going to be solid for daily duties, yeah?

Yeah I can't imagine they are more than 10 liters or so each. They're cheaper than the Kriega bags I have for sure, too. Mostly got them for shits and giggles and to do a video on them for the yootoobz.

When I can get a mirror from Honda for $3 I was hoping they'd be a bit cheaper, but yeah, not bad overall. When a quality Kriega bag or similar is easily over $100. And shit, racks for $62 is a steal. I was hoping bags woudl have been closer to 40 or $50 each though.

 

Yeah, kriega and mosko moto are tops for looks IMO, but dang the prices.

 

Add Giant Loop Moto to that list. Their stuff looks great and functions great but sheesh they're expensive. Even at 50% off it seems expensive (though still worth it). I'm still glad I took your recommendation and got one though.

 

My wife made fun of me when I told her I bought more bags.. I may have a luggage/bag problem..

My main set is from Adventure Spec and I think they're pretty slept-on. I am really happy with them the few times I've used them. They need some form of a rack for most bikes but are super flexible overall and the price is right.

Back to civilization after being gone for a week or so. 1300+ miles of driving, ~600mi of moto riding in insane twisty beautiful mtn roads, hours of stand up jetskiing with 4 days on a houseboat surrounded by great friends on lake Shasta, absolutely phenomenal time all around.

Sounds like everyone here has been doing decent in the time I took away minus some teeth surgery pain!

Aint nothing wrong with having a bad vibe and not hopping on the moto, done it many a time, hell I have had it overcome me to the point of turning around and going home after gearing up and getting on the bike.

Much appreciated, but I can see in the pics that the ones in my ring are not stock. I'll have to get them and remove the ring lock to put them in. Then I can put my bag on.

Question for you since you've done tear downs on the front end. Does the dark grease in these pics mean I've got an issue? Planning a longer ride and want to be squared away.








I'm no mechanic so I'm not sure if this might be the bearings you were talking about in the past.
The bottom of the ignition cylinder was caked as well, so maybe somebody was lubing the ignition and was just messy?

Hey Guys wondering if anyone has experience with cb750 carbuerators. I haven’t been able to find a shop to work on them so I’ve decided to work on them myself.

A bit of backstory they were vapor honed about two years ago and probably due to bad/old gas they started to leak.

First question is how can I tell what model they are? Comes from a 1981 cb750 with VB and 420(?)CTC7 on the carbs as seen in photo. From some tables it seems should be a VB42A model but I don’t see that anywhere.

Next I assume I should replace all the gaskets and clean the bowls. Anything else I should do? I want to try to limit the need for me to tune the carbs.

The last questions is it looks like there are hoses between each carb but between one set there isn’t. I am wondering if this is why the fuel leaks a bit(it comes out a lot)

Sorry the photos may not be in order and TIA for any help. (Disregard the choke return spring missing, the wires are a workaround until I can try to find it)

 

Consider

LEAKage implies a fuel level HIGHER than any sealing surface.

But the FLOAT and needle should prevent such fuel levels.

You have defective float needles or seats!. Simple parts.

 

Here ya go..when i rebuilt mine I used the randakks cycle shop kit. It was pretty painless overall and the bench sync was good enough for me.

Wait.. am I seeing wire wrapped around some parts holding them together? And what looks like wrong screws in some parts?

 

If it’s any consolation my first “crash” was worse (ego-wise). I was coming home after visiting my girlfriend and it was late at night. I lived on a somewhat steep inclined street at the time but I grew in that house so i was very familiar with it. Because it was late, I had the habit of revving up to speed and shutting the bike off a couple houses early as I coasted up the street and into the driveway to the garage so I wouldn’t disturb my neighbors. I had done this plenty of times before on the bike and various cars so i already knew how fast to go and when to shut down. Apparently this time I didn’t have the speed so as I’m coasting into the left hand turn to the driveway and leaned in, I just fell right over and the bike on top of me. I must have been going 2 MPH before gravity took over. Hurt my leg a bit but ego took the brunt of the accident. I felt like a complete idiot. It was late enough where there was no one around to get the bike off me and help me pick it up so I had to figure it out on my own. Luckily no witnesses to my slow speed fall either.

Yes the wire is wrapped around where the choke return spring should be as it was missing.

The wrong screws were either from previous owner or the person I had rebuild them used them. Given how much other shortcuts he did on my motorcycle I wouldn’t put it past him. I’ll be replacing the screws for sure, however the choke return spring and the wire works for now until I can find that part.

Or I just might buy Murray carbs.
