I'm not a bad fabricator, been doing it for years, but trucks and their limited space is pretty new to me. Was a challenge getting around 1.5 cubic feet and getting even the depth needed for these shallow subs to clear. I probably couldnt have made the tolerances any tighter. Two of these 12's should absolutely be plenty of bass in the cabin of a Tacoma. You will see in some of the build pics some mods I had to make to get clearances..With the seats up there is around .75 to 1.0 inch of space from the woofer to the seat backing...Thanks for looking..

Thanks for the the thumbs up on the enclosure. I forgot to mention I will be powering the subs @2ohm with a Stinger MT1500.1...It's a cheap amp cost wise but I've been bench testing this box loaded with these subs and that amp for months now in a home setup. Should be around 1000+ watts and it's actually pretty damn impressive how low and what kind of output the combo is putting out. For about $165 the Stinger amp is freakin awesome. Designed by a former engineer at Resonant Engineering. Some videos on youtube show the amps are fairly underrated. Small footprint, efficient, and the quality of the heatsink and heft of the amp shoots way above its price range....

Liking what you did there. I fought this battle as well, first having split boxes from my old truck that at least worked but still took up more room than I wanted. I lucked out into getting a Mr Marv box which is the same idea as yours working around the rear hump.

Looking like a single cab as well, what year?

Looks great. You could have put a couple of tweeters & mid-range/woofers in there, also.

But, that's just me. Good job

It's a double cab...14...Yeah I just built it out piece by piece to the dimensions above and below the hump. It took some time for certain. I've got access to decent tools so that always helps with accuracy. I don't however have access to an install bay and it's no wonder these kind of installs take months sometimes for us DIY guys to complete. Every little step takes 5 times longer than having the vehicle in a bay with AC and all the tools and materials you need within 20 yds of you. About the space, it has completely taken up any I had behind the seats( not that there was tons anyway but often utilized). Amps are going under both front seats so the only storage left in the vehicle will be under the rear seats, glove compartment, and center console which is much needed. Probably will buy one of those wheel well truck boxes that swings out and is mounted in the bed.

It's a double cab so with the seats upright would just cover and muffle them. Going to do a three way active up front and rear fill in the rear doors. Trying to go for a pretty respectable sound quality setup. I've got a Pioneer DEXp99rs on hand and even though it's old school and dated by today's standards, it can really be a bad ass source unit...Thanks for the compliments man..

I was thinking maybe the tweeters facing towards ceiling. It is kinda narrow, though.

Maybe you'd get a Bose reflective type sound, lol :) :fistbump:

Man that baby is crammed in there..lol..There is hardly room for even the woofers to flex. And then there is the issue of it being behind those foam seats. I know bass is a bit different but its gotta make an impact being behind all that foam...Will just have to see how it feels and sounds in the next coming weeks....I could always fold up the rear seat bottoms to give them some breathing room...

Gotcha. And yeah without a template to follow per se it's trial and error till you get what you want with it.

Are you using any fill inside?

Tweets and mids would be kinda fun like the old school ones..I thought about it with mine but they'd be muffled as hell and I have a decent set of door speakers that I run.

Yeah I stuffed it with about a pound of polyfill. It honestly likely isn't going to make any difference. I've modeled these sub parameters in Winisd and this box being around 1.5 -1.65 cubic feet is around .7-.8 QTC so its already in that happy medium zone of power handling and low extension..Shallow subs have come a long way from when they first came out. I remember they sounded like shit back around 2005. These things can dig down into 20 HZ territory no problem. Probably going to be overkill in the tacoma cabin..Can always reduce output..
