"So you draw a big circle like this, then you do the same with a small circle here, and small circle there"
    "Ok that'll be $33"
I'd be ready to quit my day job after that

Someone wanted to pay for a drawing; stupidly simple one (the one described above)

Had asked what the real question was, and posted that screenshot describing how quick and easy it is

Some people had messaged him, including myself, but one person messaged him telling him that he's paid me to teach him CAD so he responded to my PM - my PM was simply asking if the drawing was for him (and if he owned a CNC table) or if it was for someone else

In short, he owns a CNC table and hasn't learned the workflow or how to draw (or what program to use)

Did a quick overview on the workflow, and he paid me for my time as he said he'd love to get back to me for a walk-through if possible

I didn't even know you can get payment through FB so I did that, and sent a DXF of said drawing (which he didn't even ask for after he saw how fast it was to create)

The virtual meetings are never consistent as in, I haven't done one in a few weeks. I've made some quick cash in doing them but generally don't hear back anymore as a lesson or three usually teaches them enough to not need me anymore.

The average for the last meetings was between $100-150 for an hour long meeting and I was letting people record the session (when I was paying for Zoom at $15/mo)

@time623 on the otherhand, I'm basic AF with CAD

All my stuff, with the exception of the sheet metal function (in regards to the flange tool) is all 2D

Your truck model and bumper setup were far more advanced than the shit I do

My only saving grace is how quickly I can get stuff done, and how clean and precise my cuts are

Once you get the 2D down, 3D is easy. Its just the 2D sketches extruded out.
At the end of the day, its all just drawing lines. I have a lot more fun in 3D though, 2D gets boring to me

Oh dude I've had 2D down for awhile; got started on my CNC in Dec of '22

I just don't need to do anything 3D as I don't have a mill, lathe, etc...basically all the real tools

    Too poor :bananadead:

Could use it to put all your 2D parts together into a 3D assembly though
I was able to avoid any cardboard aided design that way

    That's for sure!

Too small of a fish right now to utilize that for my benefit though; definitely good to know though I agree

Anyone ever use one of those two piece boots over a torn inner tie rod boot?

They work but it's a short term solution, the bonding agent needs to bond to clean rubber/neoprene and that's easier said than done when you have a greasy CV and even when it does bond it creates a hard spot where things begin to tear again

Having to teach a fellow millennial how to unhighlight text in Microsoft word has been the low point in my day, err, month so far.

That's a low even as an IT support person I haven't encountered. Usually it's so easy it happens by accident

Day 4 of being a sysadmin despite not applying for a sysadmin job or having the credentials for it... I am attempting to configure a fancy MikroTIK router as a switch... so far the router is winning.

Never forget I sent a screenshot to a coworker a year or so ago showing them a part of the company website they were asking about, they emailed me back to tell me the links weren't working. They were clicking on the screenshot

The worst part here is that an Android phone now will recognize a screenshot of a website and then suggest it forward you to the URL which it saves in metadata of the photo... We let the morons win and now it is a feature

I'm talking about an inner tie rod, so it wouldn't be moving nearly as violently as a CV boot

ah, yeah it would probably last the lifetime of the tie rod.
