Had my truck cleaned about a month ago and they left me two air fresheners on my shifter . Wasnt a huge fan so I put them in the back and hung them off of the rear door handle …

Just went to clean and found the plastic trim is soft and gooey where it was making contact. If you’ve ever accidentally sprayed Deet onto plastic it’s a lot like that. So be careful .

Not much since your lungs aren't made of plastic nor is the air freshener touching them.

Out of curiosity how hot is it where you live. I live in New Orleans and I've seen soft interior trim melt to other soft plastic that is left in contact to bake for days on end.

The oils used to slowly evaporate the scent often doesn't play well with plastics.

As mentioned above, it's the scented oils used.
I've actually had my beard oils dissolve rubber bands and even a pair of BT headphones a few years ago, the little cable that connected the Left and Right sides would hang down far enough that i needed to tuck it under my beard, well the beard oil over time destroyed the rubber components of the headphones.

    This prompts a few inquiries:

    1.- BEARD OIL??? WTF Sir?!

2.- What weight oil do you use?

3.-And, most importantly, what is your OCI?? (Sounds like you are not doing it often enough if that gunk is melting your headphones!)

Is there Deet in the beard oil?
    :boink:

I've actually had to warranty this before. It was clear the air fresher was hanging off the shifter and it caused that damage. But you need indisputable proof to disallow warranty, and it was easier to keep the customer happy.

I haaaaaaate hate hate hate air fresheners.
