4th gen Oil Change

If you can afford to buy a 40-50k truck shouldn't you be able to afford an oil change ever 6 months or 3-5k miles just to be on safe side?

 

Absolutely. But nobody here should be taking advice from the person with an Aprilia Tuareg 660 and no Toyota in the first place

 

It’s not my fault that Toyota doesn’t build trucks for men. /s

I also do my oil changes every 10k miles or more and my truck cost more than $40-50k.

 

If you remove the chin strap you won’t need “Ramps of Death” for the oil change!

If not, get you some Race Ramps instead, much safer

 

I'm thinking about it! Still mulling over the potential loss of efficiency and increased noise vs the ocular pain of keeping it on.

I (obviously) don't have the chin strap on my third-gen TRD or Tacoma, and I still need ramps to change the oil comfortably.

With the truck raised up in front on the ramps will the oil drain completely?

 

Note that the truck is sitting approximately level because my driveway is sloped. But do you ask because you actually care?

 

My garage is flat - so yes, I care.

 

What is gonna happen for those who have a full complement of steel skid plates underneath? That oil filter looks to be in a lame spot. My 2nd gen with the filter up top is the most convenient I've ever had. This looks not so great.

 

my guess is they'll get a phillips/torx and remove the little cut out or a 14mm socket and drop it down like you do with 3rd gen skids...

 

What’s gonna happen? God forbid you have to drop some skids once or twice a year for routine maintenance
