It must suck to be some of you guys! My advice to OP; buy it, drive it, and be happy. Shit might happen, but then again it probably won't.

The problem I have is I paid what I consider a premium price and then my new Tacoma was on a sixty day quality control hold and then when it finally arrived I almost refused to take it. Although all issues were resolved at Toyota’s expense it should have never been shipped.

Even with all the issues as I have stated I still love the truck.

I really just want other owners to see these issues and have Toyota repair them while under warranty and hopefully get back to building the quality Toyota has been known for in the past.

I've got a 2022 SR 2.7 that I bought new. After 2.5 years, and 35,000 miles, I've had zero issues with it.

That’s just the thing some owners never experience the typical problems and others do maybe it depends on what day of the week the truck was built.

So far I have not had any of the typical mechanical problems just panel alignment that Toyota corrected.

I am the OP. What I meant by known common problems is illustrated by my problems with my 2007 Rav4 with V-6. 2007 was the second year of that Rav4 generation. My Rav4 had an external oil line made partly of stainless steel and partly of rubber. Toyota sourced the wrong rubber for the oil line, and the oil lines began failing. Toyota issued a secret directive to replace the rubber section when one came in for other work. Mine was never fixed before I bought it, and it failed on a vacation trip. There were numerous defective water pumps, and a problem with the valve train that required replacing the entire valve train. These problems were common to all 2007 Rav4s with the V-6 engine. Toyota replaced the rubber and stainless oil line with an all-stainless line in 2008. I think they also fixed the valve train and water pump issues in 2008. Are there any problems common to most or all 2022 Tacomas or certain components of 2022 Tacomas?

From my initial read on this board, it appeared that Tacomas were expected to be constantly granading around you as you drove down American roads...

Tacos are as reliable as it gets these days. And that is pretty good.

The only reason that we have a list of issues like that related to the Tacoma despite it's reliability and rock solid nature is because the Tacoma community is so involved and so in love with this truck (despite its obvious flaws) that everything is documented and noted. You can come on this forum and ask almost any question about the Taco and someone will know the answer. There are not many other communities devoted to cars/trucks with this level of knowledge about the vehicle except maybe Jeep.

This is a great place to get lists of anecdotal issues (and helpful solutions) that are statistically unlikely, yet frequently used for trolling.

You’re better off consulting statistic-based resources like car-complaints & consumer reports, which will confirm what the vast majority of 2mil or so Gen3 owners already know, that the trucks themselves are relatively bulletproof.

A 2022 Tacoma is pretty much as good as it gets, just beware of the trolls.

The 2022 was “supposed” to be the last of the third gens, but COVID delayed Gen 4 until 2024.

Essentially that means the 22 & 23 models are nearly identical, and were the ones that had all the bugs worked out, and some nice features added. (Acoustic glass, power seats, better tune….)
I think you’ll find that it should be a very good choice.

I’m the guy in love with my two 22's:

I had a 2017 sr5 taco that totally sucked (mechanically and design), especially after driving the 2015 sr5 taco. But it never left me stranded.

Op, if the 22 you’re interested in has a clean history buy the truck.

SlippRott, the Rav4 forum is full of info as well. That is how I discovered the issues that were common to 2007 Rav4s with the V-6 engine. Good user forums (fora for you Latin scholars) are the best resources for prospective purchasers. I paid a Toyota dealer $100 for a pre-purchase inspection of my Rav4, and they didn't tell me about any of the common problems. The CarFax was clean, so I thought I was golden. I spent about $3,000.00 getting the 3 major common problems fixed. If I had researched the user forums, I probably would have passed on the vehicle.

My 2023 tacoma sr5 v6 has what I thought was a “rough” idle in gear and some vibration from the floor board and gas pedal. Back to the dealer 6 times with no fix. Ended up test driving another used 2023 tacoma and it was the same as my truck. Guess they all have slightly different “personalities” some smoother than others. I’ll note that I did buy an oem Toyota steering wheel damper that bolts on behind the airbag, the damper is for another tsb issued for the Tacoma due to a vibration coming from the rear of the truck. The damper has made a dramatic difference in the frequency of the vibration through the gas pedal and floorboard. Big thumbs up!

A friend of mine is a Jeep owner. I thought that was the only online group that obsessed about the vehicle. After buying my Tacoma, this board ( amount and depth of content) shocked me!

Not BS just facts do your research! Everything I have stated is fact you must surf the threads looking for someone to criticize! OP wanted to know known issues I spelled out just a few. I have never said that 3rd gen Tacoma was a bad truck if you would have bothered to read the entire thread you would have seen the positive post I have put up.

    Yeah - but you could...
It wouldn't happen if you owned a (insert other car brand / model here).

27K on my ‘22 TRD OR. Besides the shitty gas milage and the seats get uncomfortable on long trips, love mine.

FWIW my 18 had none of the issues mentioned above.

Been a rock solid machine and I’m not easy on my truck at all.

Just like with everything though, quality went down after scamdemic BS. Humans have also seemed to change, for the worst.
