100% - I'm glad someone else "gets it". lol. It just flows.

I'm not going to say it's always pretty but it's deff better than if I try to "cool it down a notch". I try to play around with settings when it's not something that needs to be pretty or crazy strong to learn -- but I'm always more comfortable when she's running a little hot.

Maybe it's a shitty welder thing. lol. @Kwickvette?

    Thriving

So well, that a host of beneficial critters have settled in and are providing that needed balance for a healthy tank

These are tiny crustaceans known as seed shrimp

Found them on a dead leaf I pulled earlier today and threw under the microscope

I did toss my ludwigia stem plants though. This is because we've been out practically every weekend and since I don't run co2 when I'm not home, I also wasn't there to shut off my lights

This lead to overexposure and causing stringed algae to grow on those plants I threw away yesterday

On the otherhand, my jungle val which started as a small, yellow wilted bunch, has really grown and I've been propagating it

    20240611_141454.jpg

Not to mention I had lost nearly all my floating plants, only for the population to rapidly increase again

You need to set up a tank!

    Plants

Plants are key; my last tank (or any tank before this one) never had live plants

Makes a big difference especially with nitrate levels

been a long time since I had fish but I never had plants either. now that I understand more it seems like they can do a ton to support the fish like you say fixing nitrate and other nutrient levels in the water

They also carry some nitrifying bacteria as well, not to mention giving fish a place to hide in

One looks to be a Cloisonné. BMW was famous for it in the early years.

Huh, never knew the word for that, interesting and I think technically you're right but I'm not sure if people would recognize it as such.

Ugh, we could use some rain up here in the summer, once mid June rolls around that stuff goes away for about 3 months entirely and we get "fire season"

Was in Michigan for 5 days last week riding single track on the dual sport with buddies so trying to still have a fun Fathers Day weekend while giving the wife a break so taking him camping and wheeling in the Taco. Stoked to beat on the bitch a little bit.
