Mostly stock with a few minor mods.
Very interesting, but my initial feeling is that it is a fake. It appears the distillery was shut down in 1922 and resurrected in 2023. Any old bottles found appear to be really old and dusty like this:Screenshot_20240612_210807_Chrome.jpg
Could someone keep a bottle that pristine for 101 years??? And the label looks deliberately torn and stained. Like the tear on the right just misses the name but then cuts under and down. IDK??? Anyone else???

Might just be the angle, but the neck of the bottle in the picture you posted gets thicker the lower it gets; the photo posted of the found bottle has a neck that looks the same thickness top to bottom.

However, what would the motivation be to fake a bottle of this bourbon and why would a fake bottle just be sitting around in a house just sold.

The tax stamp looks pretty convincingly decrepit.

I realized today that I keep the stuff I really like kinda sitting on the back shelf...saving it. That's stupid. So I had a talk with myself, after gym time....I needed to commit myself to fine bourbon idolatry, cuz ya know, life is short. So, two of my back shelf holds on the front row tonight. To be honest, Frey Ranch, 13th Colony, Ben Holladay, King County, and Dettling win out far and above Blanton's...but hey, gotta pay homage to the overpriced purchase I made in a state of FOMO.

I went to my local auction house to see if they by chance had run across any old bottles sitting dusty in the bins of estate sales. They said yes...but recent changes in law won't let them auction them...so....they...just...give...it....away.......arrrghhhhhhh!!! I put a word in to say hey....send them my way, and I'll pass along some $$. Who knows, maybe they'll remember me.

I'm recently back into the WT realm. After many a hard night in high school puking my guts out on half gallons of 101...I'm back in the "flock". Such great flavor, for so little. people balk at $50 for a bottle of higher end Turkey...I say...go price out a damned $200 bottle of MGP juice....that literally everyone and their brother is "finishing"....and you can buy several incredible bottles of WT...and hey, maybe even find that new wife that is maybe missing a tooth, and maybe has a funny looking set of toes......WT brings it all home.

I sometimes forget that this forum is on TW and we all have Tacomas and some use them to go camping haha. So my question is what is everyone's go to way to get their favorite whiskey out to the wilderness. I want to make a kit to make old fashions while I'm out camping. Looking for inspiration.

Usually 2 bottles (sipper and one for OFs) sipper is bubble wrapped in the dry goods box, the one for OFs in the fridge, I bring a couple of different sized yeti cups, they have a small 6 or 7 oz tumbler that makes a perfect sipping cup. Cocktail crate OF mixer and cherries in the fridge, and if I'm feeling really fancy I'll bring my big ice cube tray and once we hit camp stick it in the freezer.

@ET_Quila , And you don’t have to gaze out upon homeless Denver dude rummaging through your truck. The scenery you’ll miss

I just throw a few bottles in the truck. If im solo, I'll do a flight in 2oz bottles. I would probably be too lazy to make old fashioneds out there so maybe make a batch ahead of time? Or I have had the premixed OF from high West which is great for under $30.

I think I bought one at Costco for like $25ish. Thats honestly a pretty good relationship to have. Just act confident that you know what you are talking about about. Good way to get dibs on the good stuff whenever she gets it in

Picked up a bottle of ben holladay red wheat yesterday. Store also had Weller special reserve at 40 and buffalo trace at 26.99 so I grabbed those to store away.

I went to the mixology class at Woodford on my recent trip to Lexington. It was really cool to see an old-fashioned classic vs what they call a bread pudding old fashioned. Totally different drinks.

I picked up a couple of pre mix bourbon cocktail mixers. Haven't tried them yet but may give them a shot next Friday when my brother comes into town.

I believe I have stirrings, a pikes peak lemonade mixer, an on the rocks with knob Creek premade, and a strong water I believe as well. It's super easy to make at home with the bitters but I picked these up for camping or to bring to a gathering with a bottle. Curious of everyone's favorite if you have tried any.

I don't care for the strong taste of bourbon alone.

It’s been in a cabinet in a small town in Iowa(population 300)for who knows how long.

The cork has receded into the bottle and there’s some evaporation. The label is dry and very delicate. I don’t think it a fake it’s just been inside for many many years
