Question. I finally got around to installing my

25001-119-EXT and 25001-121, with 650lb springs. Camburg UCA, Deaver Expedition Stage 1

I only have a C4 hybrid front bumper approx. weight 115lbs.

    After 2000 miles

Is there anything I can adjust?
Speed bumps cause the front end to be bouncy for a few seconds until it settles, and also front end excessively jumpy on on slightly uneven freeway sections Other than those scenarios it’s fine.

Have lift height set at 2”, running 295/70/17 Mickey Thompson AT’s

    Thanks!!

When you say "bouncy" are they stiff? Or are they riding like a Cadillac bouncy?

Stiff bouncy would be from too much preload (more than likely). Cadillac bouncy is probably from the valving and the spring combo. You need them revalved if it's really really squishy up front.

    They are bouncy, not soft.

The small bumps on freeway cause front end to be “jumpy” up front. It even resonates into cab, until it settles down.

When the suspension was initially was installed it was fine. Not sure if it’s after springs settled or?

Tire pressures matter too. Make sure you're not overinflated.

Is that spring one that King recommends? King's are known for being too soft on road. I'm guessing that it's either too heavy of a spring, or there is too much lift (preload) and it is causing them to ride like that.

Did you have it aligned after the install? If the steering is jumpy at highway speed, that probably means your alignment's caster is too high...the tire pressure could come into play as mentioned.

Thank you, I’ll check tire pressure.
    Appreciate it.

I spoke with King, and they mentioned to try them out first, didn’t recommend a specific spring.

it was aligned after install. I did have tires rotated and re-balanced. Seems like ride got a bit worse, and the tires went out of balance fairly quick.

Not sure if maybe another alignment is needed.

I’ve been thinking about the tire pressure as.

    I appreciate all the feedback.

Bouncy for a few seconds sounds like you lost all damping. Do you have any fluid leaking from the shock?

Preload and 650lb spring = bounce. Get them valved for the spring you've installed, or reduce preload on the spring which will in turn settle things down.

The inclination to increase spring rates AND preload to maintain an aesthetic in the front end (lift) has consequences which make the vehicle behave poorly. Let's also be realistic, upgrading to a King coilover designed for off-road performance isn't going to be as comfy on the road as OEM. It's meant to absorb significant off-road use that would be beyond the limits of a stock suspension, that also comes with consequences.

Just as a point of reference / comparison, I have an ARB front bumper (no winch) and FOX 2.5 PE's w/ DSC + 650-lb spring-rate coils on front, + FOX 2.5 DSC & Deaver U402 stage IIIs, on rear. All provided by/tuned by Accutune, did the on-truck installation myself. Very nice ride under all conditions, with damping that is "as good as it gets." Can hit a large speed bump (i.e. on city / surface streets) at 30 mph fully loaded and the truck doesn't bounce at all. One dip & full recovery on the first rebound. My setup increased lift both front & rear by about 2", and that's with near-minimum preload on the front. Yokohama Geolandar AT tires in a standard size, usually at about 32 PSI.

Not sure why this / your King setup isn't working correctly, might be shock valving or improper installation. Just saying that it's possible to get a good ride on-road w/ heavy duty aftermarket shocks/coils, at least if they have a wide range of adjustability as the FOX w/ DSCs do.

I’m running 700lb with steel bumper , winch all steel skids , sliders etc. 1000 pounds over stock. What’s your top hat to center bolt measurement? What was measurement of spring install on shock before install. My rig recovers like others have said one dip and recovers. Speed bumps at 20 no problem. E rated tires will change ride quality IMO. I also had my shocks tuned @AccuTune Offroad for weight etc.

    Good luck

Thank you appreciate it. They do well on the large dips. But it’s seems just on uneven freeway.

I’ll look into possibly Tune as well.

    Thank for reply.
Yeah I think it might be the lack of tuning, and lack of weight up front for the 650lb springs.

I’m trying pinpoint the issue. Seems like ride got worse after tire rotation and balance.

The tire are going out of balance fairly quickly.
