Icon rxt leaf pack

You'll be fine. I have option 2 on my '20 Pro, and plenty of others do as well. Your max extension will still be limited by the shock length, but you'll still have plenty of flex.

 

So is that standard where the shock tops out before the leaf pack unless you run a universal length shock? I'm looking at an icon rxt leaf pack that I want to run option 1 for 1.875" of lift, can I use bilstein 5160's with that even though they're only for up to 1.500" of lift? If not what are my other options?

I wouldn't necessarily say I know what I'm talking about lol I just do a lot of research before purchasing stuff.

The 5160s have similar specs to the Fox shocks.

ICON wont release the exact specs, but they gave me "approximate" lengths. Assuming ICON designed their RXT kit to match the droop of the RXT spring packs, the Fox and 5160 shocks come up around 46mm, or 1.8in short when fully extended.


If I remember correctly from installing my RXT packs, the Fox shocks reached max extend even before the OEM springs reached full droop. I doubt anyone will have issues with Fox or 5160s unless they are running whoops non-stop and slamming the shocks to full extend over and over.

Curios if someone can give me some direction. I currently have the Icon 1.5” aal I opted to keep the factory overload spring installed. I’m happy with how the truck sits currently but want to get the full leaf pack now. What config will get me closest to what I’m at now lift and weight wise?
Going stiffer than I am now would be good to as my constant weight has been creeping up as I’ve been adding gear.

 

those icon shock specs are correct. but even with leafs on option 1 the leafs droop more than the shocks will allow and axle had to be jacked up to bolt the shock in.

 

Go with stage 2 for roughly 2” of lift. It’ll handle weight (200-500 pounds) just fine.

I’ve run my leaf pack in all three settings and like stage 2 the best. Stage 3 is a harsh ride without 300+ pounds and stage 1 can’t handle more than 200 pounds without sagging. Stage 2 is the sweet spot and I have about 30k miles on the leaf pack.

 

I’m currently on my 2nd set of rxts and the squeaks are extremely irritating I think I’m throwing in the towel and going archive garage . Before anyone judges me I’ve ran 2 sets on my truck both stage 3 . The 1st set I did the standard install(No liners/No lubricants) . I sold them after only 7-10k miles on them the squeaks were horrendous. It wasn’t the leafs but the bushings. Now the second set I purchased the leaf liners from speedway motors as well as coating each leaf with lubricants that worked for about 6 months now I’m about 18months in and the squeaks are ridiculously loud .

 

I have liners as well and I have squeak, but I do think mine is in he bushings. It's more like creaking at slow speeds and it's not very loud yet. I don't seem to hear anything with bumps, just creaks when tension changes.

My CPO '22 had terrible squeaking. Wife said she knew I was almost home when she could hear the truck. I tried a few different things, but 3 months ago I sprayed Fluid Film between each of the leaf springs, with special emphasis on the spacers at the ends. Then used the PB'laster on the bushings of the spring hangers. I'm not sure which thing 'fixed' the problem, and I don't know how long it will last. I used the PB'laster on the bushings because the Fluid Film says on the can that it may deteriorate rubber components.

Not a lot of dusty driving since then, but the squeak has not yet returned. I've been doing stuff to my truck and been tempted to reapply, but I want to know how long it will last.

 

My bushings creak so bad. Sounds like an 1850’s wooden wagon.

I’m on option 2 with bike tubes between each leaf, and Dobinson greaseable shackle bolt. Still creaky AF

 

I’m on option 3 with 255 in just my rear bumper and topper. Even if I load my truck down with over 350 in weight.. they still squeak. I’m switching to Alcans in about a month.

 

Just started getting squeaks. I’m on option 2 with about 350 lbs constant load. It only seemed to get bad after humid/rainy days! Prior to that there were no squeaks! A little disappointed but it still gets the job done so I will live!

 

Any pictures? how have they been holding up, did you drill holes in the other leafs? i was going to swap from option 2 to 1 no squeaks but these dormans are cheap at rock figured it couldnt hurt. I was planning on drilling the leafs without pads and having them on each leaf

Holes are the same size, no drilling needed. They are holding up much better than icon's. If you are level 3 like me then you will likely need to ditched the two front Leaf pack gold bolts that attached to the leaf alignment brackets, but I kept the rear one in place with a little persuasion. Sometimes I get a little bit squeak but I have had the leaf packs for 4 years now.

Its also common to go in with a prybar 1x a year and clean the leafs and re-lube the induvial leafs and the round pads to keep the squeaks away. Otherwise throwing a can of fluid film or something similar at it can help too.

 

Thanks i meant drilling for i think the bottom 2 leafs since they do not have pads. I am on option 2 wanting to swap to 1 so i could use the longer option 3 hangers that should fit. I also figure with the slightly taller pads it will be easier to get in between the packs to re grease/clean. I normally run just a topper and some tools in my AC so 4-500lbs and option 2 is just a little high with a 1.1 front lift even after 15-20k on them. Had it loaded up 2 days ago moving with 7-800lbs plus the fiberglass shell so figure 1000lbs and there was still a 1.5'' rake from the front which is which is good. Its just not loaded down that heavy often so i think option 1 will better suit my needs, the access cab has to play a part in it option 2 on my truck can hold a ton of weight without really sagging.
