All these third gen recomendations crack me up. A real man would get a first gen 2.7 bcause the Toyal 4 cylinders are the most reliable.... Also, my coil sprung Rams have no problems with large payloads and ride smoother (but you will want to add Timbrens enhancer kit of you are consistanly pushing the numbers https://timbren.com/collections/timbren-ses) Go test drive a 4th gen and let your butt tell you if its worth it. Trims are going to be subjective so I would check toyotas website builder and watch some youtube reviews.

I’ve driven both back to back, and for the money they’re asking I can’t fathom why anyone with a ‘20 or newer would trade off unless they just never warmed up to Gen3 in the first place. For many, “all new” just automatically equates with “better in every way”.

There’s a lot to like, but Gen4 desperately needs greater refinement if they hope to sell these things w/o massive discounts. Maybe that was the strategy all along. Already a very big red flag for resale though.

This was not a lease I actually was trying to get out of the leasing circle. It is a 2022 with less than 20k miles.

Idk what kind of pedantic, trivial piece of minutia you’re referring to but the brand new dodge trucks still say ram on the grille and a quick google came up with this

Anyway point being that coil springs must be able to haul just fine if i see them on dodge *not ram* 2500’s

Some rental company's have 24 Tacoma's, rent one and see how you like it. GMC/Chevy have some solid midsize offerings also, give them a look too and compare against the Tacoma.

I'll say it again. There hasn't been a Dodge Ram since 2009.

Its funny how people on here now love the 3rd gen when not even a year ago most people hated and complained about them.

In what ways do you feel it needs to be refined? Not talking about price, of course. 3rd Gens have been selling for ridiculous prices too.

First impression despite the MSRP is cost-cutting. Test drive any trim regardless of price and you are reminded that it was built to a very limited (Nissan?) budget. Separately, the QC needs tightening: rattles, fit & finish, paint imperfections, loose trim. My thought is let’s pay these folks at the factory a fair wage, but then Toyota would probably delete power windows…

The new four cylinder started rough, needed extra time to warm up w/o missing, and doesn’t deliver enough low-end to overcome the lack of engine refinement. It really, really needs every one of the silence & augmentation bandaids that Toyota installs on higher trims. I could totally see someone trading their V6 on this truck and leave the dealership feeling ecstatic about the additional power, and after six months of ownership, be ready to dump that four cylinder racket off a cliff.

They at least look great, so just put these trucks back in the oven for a while, and set the timer to mid-cycle refresh.

I’m 1500 miles and two months into my 2024 Sport (upgrade package with Katzkin), and mine doesn’t seem to have those issues. I have read comments from others with similar observations as yours. I really like the 4th Gen. The fact that it’s taller makes it feel bigger, and I haven’t gotten used to that.

I missed my 2017 3rd Gen after making the mistake of selling it. I loved my 3G and having a truck, in general. My only complaint with that truck was the constant shifting into lower gears. The KDMAX tune improved things, but for the hard downshifts on (strangely) one hill. I will say that I preferred the engine sound of the 3rd Gen to that of the new one.

Wow and the 3G engine sounds like a chihuahua growling. Can only imagine what 4G engine sounds like…

The 4banger sounds pretty burley imho. Much better than previous gen’s I’ve owned
