Yeah, if you hang around a water fountain long enough, you will hear the compressor kick on. I've never had to work on one, but it looks like it would be fun.

It was only after going to the bathroom and coming back down for a closer look that I realized this was a drinking fountain...

This place is open to the public; I highly doubt they'd leave asbestos in place, as it seems like a lawsuit waiting to happen. You're making me want to wear my respirator next time I, though...

I've heard the compressor kick on. It just never occurred to me that it had a compressor in it...

Based on the condition of this unit, I'd says there's no freon left it in. Also, given that this place closed in 1987, I'd guess this unit had R-12...

He's gonna be giving me a whole central air-conditioner this fall; I'm done with DoorDash and Uber Eats thanks to the money I'll be making at this dishwashing job, but scrapping has proven itself to be a very profitable side hustle!

Do they send you a tax forum after you scrap so much in value?
    I think it's like $600 or something here? I don't remember.
I helped a guy haul a load off a few times. I'm not risking my tires for $40-$50.

Unless I can make $300-$400. I'm not taking my truck.

I get cash on anything less than like $1000. They offer a check on lower amounts, but only pay by check over the 1K mark.

I always make sure to be below the check threshold for tax purposes.

Here in Tennessee, They make a copy of your ID every time.
It's all logged in their system. You get a piece of paper with a bar code on it.
You then walk over to their ATM and it dispenses cash. They might offer a check?
If so, no one I've been with has ever gotten one. But the most "we've" gotten was just under $400
And most of that was old 6.5 and 305 engine blocks.

Same process here, but if they hand you cash, no need to worry about taxes. If they hand me a check, I gotta report that since it's income, with a trail.

I do all this through my company and my ID, tags, etc.

I would have thought that a dehumidifier would use R-22 instead of R-12...
