I have been busy and haven’t stayed up with the thread. Has anyone here taken delivery of a PRO or TH yet?

That’s crazy. I’m still waiting myself.

i see one really close to the configuration I want in Houston but it is still listed in build phase. I’m not driving 300 miles for a promise. Haha.

    Come on Toyota. Let’s go!

I know there is a lot of concern about the 3.4T V6 but they have sold over 65K 2024 Tundras (Jan-May) plus another 7,500 GX550s with no reported problems.

The V6 Tundra gets 17/23 mpg but in a lighter Tacoma it would probably match the 19/24 from the 2.4T. Hard to do a true apple to apple but a similarly equipped GX550 and LC are the same price - so the powerplants are the same cost?

If you could get the 3.4T for the same price as the 2.4T Max ($3,700), you would get more hp/tq (349/479 vs 326/465). You wouldn't get the 3 mpg city bump of the hybrid but would pick up 100-150 more payload as the V6TT is probably a little lighter than the hybrid. You'd also pick up the under seat storage.

If the 4 and the 6 get essentially the same mpg and the 4 Hybrid only gives a 2 mpg combined increase, that shouldn't make a significant impact to corporate mpg. Not sure why Toyota doesn't offer that configuration. At a minimum it should be the Pro engine (using the higher Tundra hp/tq configuration) to make it a better Raptor rival.

A pro with the 3.4 would have been so sweet (if they can make that engine reliable)

From my test of the 2.4 though, I love it. This is the best engine and transmission combo the Tacoma has ever seen.

The GX 550’s are just now getting delivered so they aren’t on the road yet. Give it a few months.

Would have been nice to get a V6 but thank God we didn't get the 3.4 TT. I dont think anyone is yet convinced the Tundra issues are fully resolved. Could be a couple of years before its in the clear.

I don't know, if Toyota thought there was any chance the 3.4TT problems affected the 2024s they would have included them in the recall. Having to issue a second recall would be even more negative press. Better to rip the band-aid off and get it over with.

I'm sure the 2.4T (non-Max) is a better performer than the 3g 3.5 and the 2.4T Max may provide comparable performance to a detuned 3.4TT, but it would have been nice to have a larger engine with even more power (than the Max) as an option. I mean, 1. It fits, 2. Doesn't cost more than the Max, 3. MPG loss is zero/negligible, 4. The competition (Ford) does it. Kind of a no-brainer.

Made the trip from Nashville to Ft Moore GA yesterday. Was surprised to see 3 different gen 4 trucks. One owner was at the PX who absolutely loved her OR. Said hands down better than her slow 4runner she had. Glad I am seeing more out there on the roads.

I'm seeing very limited color choice from local dealers and a heavy emphasis on the Sport model so I checked the latest nationwide database.

    6639 '24 Tacomas listed:
    Color count:
    72 Solar Octane
    82 Wind Chill Pearl
    103 Bronze oxide
    221 Supersonic Red
    309 Blue Crush
    1059 black
    1289 Underground
    1367 Celestial Silver
    2137 Ice Cap

    Model count:
    9 TPR (?)
    63 Limited
    780 SR
    827 TRD-OR
    1264 Sport
    3696 SR5

ZERO iForce Max Tacomas in the database, zero Pros. How could that be?

Just read an article about tundra owners being denied trade in because dealerships don’t want inventory of a truck with multiple recalls and no fix in sight.

I don't think trading in a vehicle with an active recall being troublesome is new. I had a CRV that had the Air Bag recall issue for Tanaka(?) that I was stuck with for the same reason. I guess I am surprised that Toyota dealers are denying trade in though.

Reputation is taking some arrows though for sure. I'd never buy another Toyota product if it were to happen to me, but I already find Toyota's reputation to be overvalued as is.

One would assume they are 100% certain since they expanded their engine plant, but personally I'd wait for at least a year if I were dead set on an Tundra, which seems to be a cursed platform with all the other QC issues.
