Tomatoes are one thing I never have a problem with.
No fertilizer, only compost.
If you have lots of earthworms in the soil, it's just right.
Worms like compost, fertilizer not so much.
I mulch with shredded leaves to keep the surface of the soil moist and the worms happy.

Careful with the watering.

I began a compost pile last year made with wood pallets ( remove one side to turn it over with pitchfork).
I mix lawn clippings without herbicides and mulched leaves and any and everything I possibly can into it. I actually used some to plant a tree for the missus recently and it is doing great. I had to buy compost and garden soil this year for my maters that are in grow bags( highly recommend those) because I felt I didn’t have enough. I will use some for a pumpkin plant though as a base to help it along. I will get some manure in the fall and try to double the size of the pile with mulched leaves too. No more buying that shit any more.

I also save my eggshells ( all dried and crumbled ) and add it to my vegetable soil when plants are seedlings . No blossom end rot. Ever. Dried ( very) banana peels chopped .


Per the poll . Fucking rabbits! I use neem oil mixed 1 oz into a gallon sprayer and rabbits/ deer will not go near plants . Spray weekly. Neem oil is An organic herbicide/ fungicide too.
