Yeah I wish they made a 1st Gen treatment especially for the lower mounts but not enough dudes are interested to get their 10 truck minimum going. That said I’ll be doing hard mounts that hold engine bay components that don’t rely on the fenders being there and probably making a splash guard inner fender system with shower tile membrane that is removable with wing nuts so I can see inside the engine bay real quick without tools.

I’ve had splash guards on my daily as the first mod I made 9 years ago and they’ve held up incredibly well with no serious issues.

Well after building tons and then 2.5 ton axles I can safely say these feel like paperweights in comparison. Nice on the back though…

    edit forgot to include quote.

I may have a set of jd inners I’ll let go. Hell I’ll include the front core support too lol. I don’t see the need if I’m going to engine cage it now.

    This is the only way.

I still managed to break a new support with the inners lol. Nothing moves now though.

I've always been curious of where everyone relocated all the shit that's mounted on the inner fenders. Like fuse box, abs shit, intake, etc.

I'm thinking about making some delrin bushings for my steering rack on my 1st gen. Don't know if anyone else has done the same for that platform, but does anyone have any feedback as to what kind of a difference in steering feel I should expect?
The goal is to reduce steering wander on the highway and have an overall tighter feel.

I currently have total chaos poly bushings installed which are a great improvement over anything rubber, but am wondering how I can make it better without going full swing set or anything like that.

Not likely - have you done the steering column tac weld / roll pin / joint shim mod, rack guide (if needed) and there's the blingy 333 clamp (I think you could just plate / box your clamp to achieve the same results)

I have done the tac weld mod and it's also a relatively new rack. I wonder how much that 333 clamp would really stiffen things up.

IDK people say it worked but without knowing if they did other mods it's hard to say. 1/8 - 3/16 plating on the clamp should do about the same imo since there's still a poly bushing underneath it. I think plating the x member including the clamp mount would make a bigger difference than a billet clamp by itself.

It's hard to say how much the whole supporting structure flexes and moves under load. Not a bad idea on plating the clamp.

Never have gone to any meets - only can if they meet where my truck is or I get an engine, brakes and fuel lines, whichever is first.
